How far would you go for a friend?

This is Mr. Aizawa. He's a 50-year-old seaweed farmer from Ishinomaki. I'm not even a huge seaweed eater, but my God—his seaweed is incredible. You can find it online or at the market by the manga museum. In ishinomaki

spent the day exploring locations and found two very different paths:

**Option A: Near the Station**
Lots of spaces for rent! Easy access, built-in foot traffic. Perfect for a cozy, intimate bar.

I wish so badly that love sounded like 'I believe in you' and not 'you can’t do it, it’s to risky, just come home’

Yesterday’s Watanoha Festival was… a lot. Hectic, overwhelming, and honestly, not all good—especially for some people around me. But amidst everything, there was one moment so magical, I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.

Exciting news! I'll be participating in Watanoha Festival next week 🎆

I'll be sharing real-time moments on **Instagram Stories** (follow me @uminokizuna.1 if you're not already!), then doing a proper recap post here on Bluesky after.

Just 20 minutes from me is this incredible tonkatsu spot run by one of Mr. Aizawa's friends - and let me tell you, it's life-changingly good! The meat is perfectly tender with that golden crisp exterior that just melts in your mouth.

So it’s officially been over a week—almost two weeks—in Miyagi, and I was *dying* for a drink. I googled izakayas nearby and found one that looked promising. There was a banner outside saying they were open until midnight, but when I got there, the shutters were down,

Had an amazing talk with my Ishinomaki friend yesterday about my dream project! We brainstormed some *really* special ideas for crowdfunding rewards—like upcycling ropes used by local fishermen (more details soon, promise!).

Life update time.

So, recap: I went on medical leave from my toxic job in Osaka, officially quit, and just moved to Miyagi last Saturday. Met up with friends in Ishinomaki and fell in love all over again—that town just *gets* me.

Day 3…
Omg how can I be making the same thing and it taste sooooooooo different ?!
I made this cocktail “blue moon” and it tasted really bad. The owner did it, it tasted really good! We’re using the same ingredients but completely different!!!

Hey friends,

I’m gonna be completely honest.
I haven’t even started yet. But today is just one of those days just so filled with self doubt.

Just found out that the Miyagi job might come with the same old issues—admin playing games, vague expectations, the works. But there’s a silver lining: the coworkers seem genuinely kind.

Second day bartending was wild - so many parties! I messed up constantly, but the highlight? Using the shaker for the first time! Way harder than it looks, but so much fun. Every mistake teaches me something, It's chaotic and humbling, but I'm already addicted to the rush. Can't wait to improve!

Yesterday, I went back to school for the first time since my leave to meet with the union and administration. The moment I stepped inside, it was bittersweet—but then something beautiful happened.

Recap about what happened to me:
When I started teaching at my current school a year ago, the English department had:
No curriculum
No textbooks
No guidance (despite having a department head who refused to work)

🚀 BUSINESS UPDATE: My Ishinomaki Dream Just Got MAJOR Help!

Yesterday, my architect/bartender friend and I talked a lot about the business and he said :

Honest feelings:

🍸 BARTENDING UPDATE + A HUMBLING REALIZATION 🍸

I wanted to post more, but I’ve been busy prepping for my move to Miyagi, life’s been a lot.

So working behind the counter
That made me appreciate my friend’s bar even MORE.
I used to think, “This place runs smoothly.” Now I realize it’s the design

🍸 BARTENDING DAY 1: MY MIND IS BLOWN. 🍸

I just finished my first shift behind the bar and—I had NO idea how much precision goes into this. 🤯
