Goose incense holder 8/2025 (WIP) - . . . I saw an antique Chinese goose shaped incense holder online and I wanted to make my own version out of clay. The body is a bottle form which I laid on its side and altered. I sliced about 1/3 of the way through and hand built a gallery inside.
Rabbit moon jar(WIP) - 6/2025 . . . A test run before I scale up. I wanted to make a piece that connected my love of the moon jar form with shared East / Southeast Asian mythology, perhaps in a more literal sense.
Unicorn pool float - 5/2025 . . . a little trompe l’oeil - a ceramic unicorn made to look as if made from cardboard. This is green ware stage. Laguna 60 clay.
Sea otter jar (WIP) . I’ve been having a lot of fun making little jars with animals as the knob/handle. I’ve also been trying to focus on trimming make it super light and chattered the jar too. You have to hold the otter’s hands or feet to open the jar!
Heron lidded moon jar - 3/2025 . My ode to the James River here in VA in celadon and gold. I’ve long admired Korean ceramics since starting my pottery journey and this is also my attempt at translating some of the elements I love about it to my style.
On my birthday a few years ago, I was at dinner and a hummingbird made a pit stop on my plate. I still think about that magical moment to this day. In honor of the ruby throated hummingbird, North America’s only hummingbird.
WIP - I call it Takotsubo - after the octopus traps and also the condition known as “broken heart syndrome”. Here’s hoping whatever is stressing you doesn’t last.
