And Kelvin is done!

The ice wight stands at about 3"/8cm tall and is 3D printed in colorized resin and assembled from 45+ parts, with custom decals for his eyes and face.

He'll be flying out to Japan tonight as a gift to my hubband. As a bonus the sigils on his stupid rock glow in the dark!

This is wild to me because like 80% of why I like my job at all is because I have constant excuses to learn, develop, and exercise weird new skills and ideas. Like I can understand just wanting a paycheck but that sounds insanely boring.

His lines regarding Allie interviewing him ("Because I'm FASCINATING."), Holliday coming to NYC based on what he says about the Troubadour, and a Sandman having to lane with him make me think recognition definitely factors into it, but it may not be the full reason.

It's not complete, as far as I remember, but it largely focused on people being Weird about her because she's a gargoyle and it being hard for her to get/hold a job because of that.

My guess is at the very least Kelvin and Edrick were part of a duo with Kelvin as the "face" and Edrick as the researcher/actual expert in the background.

I suspect it'll be that Edrick wanted more credit and Kelvin refused not really getting that he had already struggled to get there at all.

I do have to wonder what Edrick's demeanor was like before he was Seven, though, because while he DOES look radically fucked up now, if his personality and mannerisms were the same surely Kelvin would recognize him easier.

It's very sad that Kelvin doesn't pass the worm test, tho

His arms on his model right now are also very like healthy flesh. The tone is very even and the skin is very smooth. Could definitely change! (and a grosser, more fucked up Seven would be excellent)

Hopefully I can at least get one Kelvin done by the time I leave Friday. If not H will have to wait for him for Crimmus, which isn't the end of the world but I would prefer to give him Kelvin in person instead of waiting.

But it does still illustrate an area where he's not super educated. It's very possible whatever he did/said to Edrick was a massive unintended oversight on Kelvin's end that he just didn't "get" was a huge insult until it was too late.

I didn't predict racism being a major theme of Ivy's VN but we did end up with that, so either direction would make sense. Kelvin's Fern convo was super cringe, but if he's inspired by Peter Freuchen then at least the context would prolly be "well-meaning advocate who just doesn't always get it"
