There are unified theories of dark matter and cold fusion less theoretical and abstract than the timetable on the Mildmay line.

Every advert on, everywhere, is a Christmas advert. It's the 4th November. Fuuuuuck ooooooofffffff.

Determined to make Thro Pix stick as a nickname whenever Nix... well, throws an awful pick.

The Snocaps album during a walk in the sun to the bakery was absolutely what I needed this morning. Early favourites are Over Our Heads (big illuminati hotties vibes), Angel Wings, and You In Rehab, but it's all loveliness from start to finish.

Really enjoying the new series of Bettany Hughes' Treasures of the World. And good lord, Samarkand is a stunning place.

Not sure I've ever seen such disparate wall difficulties as Only Connect had tonight. One featuring unusual terms for info, a bunch of niche castles, and Windsor and WH Davies (no idea on either), the other featuring such obscurities as "dogs" and "places in Japan" (including Tokyo and Osaka, FFS).

Glorious to see Europe doling out a thorough bear down at the Ryder Cup. The American fans (and a few others...) have been way over the line. Watching them slowly shut their traps during the course of the day as more and more blue rained down is almost as good as the golf.

I'm not sure it's possible to go faster from "Who on earth is that?" to full ride-or-die status than I did with Jake Tonges on that final drive.

UAE DS is stealing a living. Anything beyond a Mr Burns style "You, Pogacar, win a bike race!" and they're a disorganized shambles #LaVuelta25

The conditions are so crap they really shouldn't be playing at the Oval, but that would have denied us this Ravi Bopara masterpiece.

I can see why Euston wanted to employ the holding system they've got in place. But whoever thought the best idea was to hold passengers for Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow trains and then release them all in the same direction at the same time needs to be put in stocks on the concourse. Carnage.

Feared the worst for The Naked Gun, but reviews were good so I took the plunge. So glad I did. Not quite as good as the originals (an impossibly high bar), but wonderfully silly, rude, surreal, and repeatedly laugh-out-loud-in-public funny. Does a lovely job paying homage while being its own thing.

Oof, Codenames. The collaboration is bad, but the absolute cowardice in turning off any kind of engagement beyond the mealiest of mouths in a statement with no right to reply? At least have the guts to admit the dollar signs overrode any moral considerations you might have had.

I'm assuming "rabe" is meant to be a homophone for "rob", but even the most ridiculous East Coast accent I can dream up is making that a stretch. Bad Connections.

Sad to see Brewdog Shepherds Bush (among others) close. Had many good times in there, and will remember the short-lived rolling chilli pot that packed quite the punch with fondness.

And fuck Brewdog, obviously. Hopefully one of these days someone takes them to the cleaners.

Dunno if it's an app update or a backend change, but ITVX suddenly started running like an actual service on my TV. Combine that with the Disney+ deal giving them a bunch of decent shows, and it's a usable service all of a sudden.

Plus Halt and Catch Fire. Always Halt and Catch Fire.

Good god, Windies. It should be impossible to lose your dignity that fast unless a lot of alcohol is involved.

I'm not sure if knowing what happened in the Test made it more or less likely that I would tell Michael Vaughan to fuck off on the highlights package, but either way, it happened within two minutes.

Brilliant from Swiatek, but horrendous from and for Anisimova. Iga might be the worst possible opponent to be facing when you freeze under the spotlight, you won't get anything easy or cheap, just a relentless onslaught. She's facing up really well under the circumstances.

Utterly gutted for Dimitrov. He was playing so, so well, and then his pec suddenly pings and that's it. Cruel.

Short of actual Palestinians, it's tough to think of three groups pro-IDF propaganda will go down worse with than Bristolians, punk/metal fans, and indie beer drinkers.

Was nice knowing you, Moor Beer.

How often can a train line be fucked to a total standstill before it becomes street furniture rather than transport infrastructure? Because the District Line is getting pretty bloody close to that tipping point.

Of COURSE Airbnb are making godawful ugly AI adverts. They were always going to be high on the list for companies pumping out cheap destructive slop with no merit or appeal.

Well, I'm too old to have three pints and no food for dinner on a Tuesday, and my knees are kind of a wreck after a worryingly short time standing... but who cares, @shura.gg is back, mis enfants!

What a match. Might be the best I've ever seen. It's at the very least right up there with the Federer v Nadal 2008 and Alcaraz v Djokovic 2023 Wimbledon finals. Sinner was unreal, making unbelievable shots, but Alcaraz just found that little extra magic. His tie break was basically perfect tennis.
