It is a very real possibility when you’re a spider, so Maeglin faced quite a risk here. Although it sometimes appears to me like some people fear humiliation more than death.

#Tolkientober Day 3: Crown

The day of the anniversary of Adar's death I wanted to go back to the parallel scene and recall when he and his children broke their chains by smashing Sauron down with his own crown👑

Their story might be doomed but I'll keep clinging to this feat😌

Would I have shared it with the Gondolindrim? Never😑 They wanted nothing to do with my paternal heritage and so I kept the secret. And it died with me

Eöl created Galvorn- a jet black metal, hard as steel, but supple and malleable, proving resistant to all blades and darts.

Interesting tidbit: one of the names Tolkien considered for the metal before settling on Galvorn included 'maeglin' 👀
