Very excited to be working on reproduction upholstery fabric for a very unique antique car.
@ironcauldron.ca used those mock-ups to begin the process of dyeing the silk in our target range. The next tricky part was to see how the teal range would combine with 3 slightly different brown warps.

An absolutely lovely group of weaving students at Eweknit today!
In a one day workshop, students learned the weaving fundamentals of treadling twill, throwing and catching a shuttle, keeping good selvedges and following a three colour pattern.

Custom herringbone and windowpane tweed in undyed white and brown with a dyed pink accent by @ironcauldron.ca in Norbouillet wool.

The wool was custom spun at Wellington Fibres, close to Elora, Ontario.

This current fabric comes from a 1960s DKW Junior car from Germany.
For the final yardage, @ironcauldron.ca matched to perfection the two stripe colours: the bone white and brass yellow.

The conclusion to a very joyful project. Purely Ontario tweed fabric made into a utilitarian jacket by Philip Sparks and a flatcap made by Deckel Caps.
Thank you Mark for supporting sustainable textiles, from the farm to garment.

With amazing exactitude, Liam nails these mid tones for the DKW Junior car upholstery.
Pictures from a recent meeting with @uppercanadaweaving.bsky.social‬ to compare scaled tests against original samples and the swatch we have for recreating this upholstery fabric. I do scaled tests when colour matching is a primary focus, to make sure things will turn out right - these looked good!

My first Blue Sky post is all about the sunshine of summer that grows the plants for natural dyes and pasture for sheep.
Goldenrod yellow and Sumac grey foraged colours turning on the sunshine on this cold and windy January day.
