I KNOWWW like trust me I adore yqy and qijiu has not relinquished its grip on me since 2019 but if *I* were sj, I think I might have actually killed him. to me it's testament to how much love and loyalty sj is actually capable of that he never Actually wanted to see him hurt or stopped loving him...

after yqy allowed him to believe that he left sj for dead or worse with a man he KNEW to be violently abusing him, in order to run off and become a powerful cultivator. WE know that yqy didn't do that, but sj does not know that bc yqy doesn't offer the information. so.... sj is Very justified?

more on the "sj is the most bpd character in sv actually" front: even when shen jiu is reasonably hurt and reacts in understandable ways to said hurt, it's chalked up to him being bad or abusive in some way. like people who claim he's somehow "abusing" yqy by not wanting to be his friend anymore

I wanted to say "this is how yqy thinks of himself at all times" but lbr, I don't think yqy actually feels any guilt for not stopping sj abusing his disciples I feel like he feels some perfunctory sadness + disappointment but it's more "he does this bc he went through worse, which is all my fault"

I don't sign up to the 'qijiu as parent/child' meta bc a) they were both kids 3 years apart at most and b) they both kind of take it in turns to be the parent lol - like sj chides and scolds yqy and also provides for them both in a way a child doesn't to their parent figure. BUT!!!!!!!!!!
