As happy as we are for this agreement, Hamas is still armed and operating. Negotiations must continue to implement the remaining parts of the deal for the humanitarian aid into Gaza, the long-term security of Israel, and peace of the region.

Congratulatory but cautious on the announcement that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of the 20-point peace plan. Although I’ve long called for the release of all hostages and cessation of hostilities, it must happen immediately.

The money lost on the activated National Guardsmen who are relegated to picking up trash, spreading mulch, and taking selfies, could be invested in serious crime-fighting tactics in those cities that need federal help.

HSIs are vital to ensuring those in CA-19 and across the country have access to high-quality and affordable higher education. Thousands of students in CA-19 have been able to attend college because of HSIs, and I will continue to work in Congress to restore this funding.

CA-19 is home to more than 7,000 federal workers, many of whom have been furloughed. At my Federal Employee Roundtable, I got to hear their concerns, and during this shutdown and beyond, I will always be a voice for workers and working families in CA-19.
