From the bridge:
Hey everyone! I'm Vall, absolutely fascinated by oil markets, tanker shipping, and those enormous VLCCs hauling crude across the globe.
I post daily insights on prices, routes, geopolitics, and the sensible logic behind it all – with a bit of proper tanker humour thrown in!
It is a very strange filling, looking at actions of Trump administration - very similar strategy with kremlin-bully a weak country, demand big, and then negotiate. As I go deeper in comparison I am discovering more and more similarities...

Iran matters more to markets than Venezuela, and oil traders can’t relax despite Trump’s signal that the US won't intervene (via Bloomberg Opinion)

Twitter was my favourite and the only social websites I used for many years. It was a place where intelligence and creativity were thriving. We were enjoying the wisdom and experiences of a respectful figures from all around the world and the blue mark was a warranty for credibility, then X was born

Reduce bureaucracy, ease regulations, support the technology sector, let the market regulate itself, boost manufacturing and farming, expand weapons production, and integrate these efforts for stronger economy and security and Europe will be real superpower.
➡️ Europe hasn’t yet unlocked full Single Market potential
➡️ Growth and trade could see significant boost from reforms
➡️ Even modest changes could fully offset projected GDP losses from trade disruptions

For non-proffesionals it is difficult to comprehend how deep oil affects our daily life. Except transport, which is by the way the main driver of the world economy approximately 6000 products from our daily life are produced from oil.
Did you know that Aspirin is one of them.

It is difficult for a non-specialist to imagine the size of a VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier), so I will try to compare it with something recognisable:
You can place 600 double-decker buses on the deck of a VLCC. The tanks of a VLCC can carry enough liquid to fill 128 Olympic-size pools.

If Europe and US can't found a common ground for long-term partnership the world will change in a way that no one will like it and most certainly nothing good will come out of it.

From the bridge:
Oil markets steady around $65 Brent & $61 WTI at 12:00 UTC amid geopolitical tensions (Iran unrest, Kazakhstan disruptions). Supply concerns offset glut fears. VLCC rates firm but volatile, around $55,000-60,000/day TCE basis recent routes.

Trump's Greenland rhetoric is leverage, not invasion threat. White House frames it as Arctic security—routes, bases, rare earths. Existing 1951 pact already gives US access; big talk pushes Greenland for better deals on minerals & presence.

Humans have used oil for over 5,000 years! Ancient Sumerians, Babylonians, and Assyrians collected natural seeps of bitumen (thick crude) for waterproofing boats, building materials, and even as a brutal punishment. Persians later used it for incendiary weapons.

Did you know that before petroleum took off in the mid-1800s, whale oil lit most lamps – kerosene from crude oil was cheaper and cleaner, which helped dramatically reduce whale hunting and saved many species from extinction.

Oil prices Brent at $64/bbl, WTI $60/bbl. VLCC rates hold $80k-90k/day
Geopolitics: Iran protests risk output disruptions; Venezuela changes spark export hopes but uncertainty.
Tanker owners smiling — at least the ships aren't protesting too!

From the bridge:

Brent ~$63.30,
WTI ~$59.30.
Geopolitics (Iran unrest, Venezuela shifts) support, but oversupply caps gains.
VLCC rates softer, WS 70-75 (TCE $50-55k/day) – ton/miles help, demand cools.
Tanker owners: "Rates dipped, but at least the barrels float!"
