Journalism lecturer at Bournemouth Uni, cycling and business hack. Lover of metal, hip hop and shiny carbon things. Half-baked opinions all my own.
If you buy this then on 25 December David Lappartient will climb down your chimney and personally check the length of your socks.

It's what every kid dreams of.

I spend a fair bit of time telling students sports journalism isn't just match reports, so I'm glad to have a new bonkers example to use.

I had fun on Saeed and Jason's podcast the other week talking about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, hunting centaurs and ice cream.

If you're keen to know what creature I'd select as my battle companion. Listen here: open.spotify.com/episode/5Gam...

Stage 18 has been shortened from the 27.2km ITT to the much shorter 12.2km due to worries around rider safety with the potential of more protests.

On the racing side, Vingegaard 🇩🇰 and Almeida 🇵🇹 looked to have poorer day yesterday but Pidcock 🇬🇧 and Hindley 🇦🇺 will, however, likely lose time today.

Kinda sucks that it's come to this but I think @cmbreports.bsky.social is on the money here.

The UCI need to remember the distance between farce and tragedy is very very small.
This Vuelta a España cannot continue with Israel-Premier Tech. This calls on serious governance from the UCI. David Lappartient has always insisted he can't take political decisions that don't align with the IOC's view, but this is beyond political: it's affecting the running of the sport.

Now he passes Cavendish with 21 wins - 14 left to go.
Tadej Pogačar's Tour de France stage win total is now even with Mark Cavendish at the same age. Plus, Pogačar has several more chances to win at this Tour.

That covers the most dominant period of Cav's career, he never again won five stages at one Tour after the age of 26.

To all those concerned that the Tour de France as a contest is already effectively over you should know that Morden, south London, has everything you're looking for.
