it costs way too much to run LLMs locally

Y'ALL ARE MISSING OUT ON ALL THE DRAMA

Mine is 22 months old. She's been using this since she was 6 months old.

Do you know how much fucking free time you have in your 20s before you have a family & kids? And you waste them on naps and Netflix, when you should go out and plant 5 trees every single day.

There is nothing that represents lost time like a tree that’s 2 yrs old instead of 20.
May 16, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Life would have compounded so hard if I had been as good at things in my 20s and 30s as I am in my 40s. I was good at my job, sure, but I’m an incredible generalist now man what the hell.

I used to be like “just planted a tree need a nap”.

Literally incomprehensible to me now.

THIS WAS SO COOL. I watched it twice.

Who else do you want me to care about…?

Mixed together some dough during my lunch break. It should be a nice surprise for my wife when she comes home. An afternoon delight.

Yesterday I worked for a bit, ran 5 miles, went to my violin lesson, worked while I walked on my treadmill all day, dinner, ran 1.5 more miles (with dog), then showered before bed.

Was I smelly? Yes.

Going to watch this right now!

I do a thing where I lift and write code between sets, and this sounds even cooler.
May 15, 2025 at 12:38 PM
I ran twice yesterday, and just showered before bed (as I always do).

She likely did the same as she’d run between meetings sometimes.
May 15, 2025 at 12:35 PM
Another simple thing I’d not thought of-

Friend was doing a “2024 miles in 2024” challenge. Told her I simply don’t have time most days to run 6 miles at a time.

She said “that’s why I break it up into 2 to 3 shorter runs”.
May 15, 2025 at 12:13 PM
I was on a call with another principal engineer and I said "okay we both have that other call now" and they said "you don't have to go to every meeting you're invited to" and I admit I had seriously not considered just ignoring invites. But honestly no other way to scale.
May 15, 2025 at 12:12 PM
I told her to write me a 1-page apology note, read it aloud, and repeat until I was satisfied.

She succeeded in one try, but next time I'm going to impose restrictions on font, size, spacing, and margins.

My 10 year old yelled at me yesterday. I was angry and hurt, and wanted to ensure she didn't do it again. Unlike our parents' generation, I don't hit my kids, so I had to resort to making unkindness highly inconvenient.

in the 9-5 world right now, admitting you used ai to do your job is like when people first started using dating apps
April 29, 2025 at 7:09 PM
I've actually never used it. Can I...do image gen / sora?
April 25, 2025 at 1:00 AM
We already have blackout curtains! But no matter when I go to sleep I'll wake up at 7, so...the only way to get more sleep is going to bed earlier. Hate it.
April 24, 2025 at 2:24 PM
claude:
- doesn't do image gen
- has been laggy multiple times this week that I gave up and restarted the request
- doesn't have voice chat

i've found myself reaching for grok and chatgpt more and more so... ❌
April 24, 2025 at 2:22 PM
didn't think this day would come so soon but i've canceled claude and am going back to chatgpt

to be clear this is about the chat ui. i already use claude-3.x-sonnet via my ide (and people are saying to give gemini 2.5 a shot).
April 24, 2025 at 2:22 PM
Of all the things I’ve tried to improve the quality & amount of sleep I get, the one that works best is just going to sleep earlier

It’s just hard when there’s so much to do!
