I feel like we’ve been living under the tyranny of irony and sarcasm for the last nearly 20 years
Vibe shift in the culture towards earnestness
well, if all the criminals are in jail, hopefully the people who come next are less psycho and thus not willing to do something so rash
given that they haven't pressed it yet, I don't think they actually do
I'm just realizing that I haven't stumbled across anyone referring to No Kings as a "superspreader event" yet and for that I am grateful
the Earth Day 1970 protests had like 20 million participants but yesterday does seem to be the second highest single day protest, yeah
more rallies after 5-6 PM then
this is the same thing that happened with gay rights when the westboro baptist church picketed soldier funerals
I doubly didn't expect the Fuck That Guy option to turn out to be a dude who has a net worth of nearly 4 billion
well, because they're wishcasting, not actually strategizing
because they've bought into the cultural framing that these people make up "real america" whether they realize that they have or not
yeah, it definitely doesn't deal with that, lol

okay, boiling this back down to my original point: do modern phones develop detectable enough wear patterns that a pin can be discerned by forensic analysis? that's the main thing I'm curious about
yeah, I mean the police. if you use biometrics to unlock but disable them to go to a protest, they'll have a hard time getting in because they won't be able to try to detect the wear/fingerprint pattern on your screen that corresponds to the pin since you don't actually use it often enough
I wonder if it's actually less secure than biometrics though since you'll be touching your screen in a very specific and repetitive way that might be possible to forensically discover. this is a problem with pinpad locks but I dunno if it's an issue on phones
I mean, I bet he'll TRY. whether it'll be successful is another story
I cannot imagine how expensive it must be for an AI system to consume, analyze, and synthesize every single post made on that website, video and images included, every single day
I think a big problem is a lot of folks try to be "serious," and they see "cringe resistance" as unserious. Their mistake is that people don't really want serious - they want sincere. And sincerity is often fun, messy, and free-spirited - all things that "serious" is not. But that's why it works.
I wish these stats were available by main account language
I've heard of a bunch of renters having them forced on them by their landlords
also just, this bsky.app/profile/usap...
"Do you think Trump wants to be the king of the US?"

Yes: 52%
No: 36%

Unsure: 12%

most people don't think like that. they think "wow, my life sucks now. who's the president? donald trump? what's he? a republican? okay, fuck the republicans then." they are mostly aware of the house and senate as concepts but pay absolutely zero attention to them and certainly don't "blame" them
