I don't know much about the movie, other than that it is a dramatization. I'm sure it's well researched. It looks to get national distribution in major theaters, so that's also encouraging.

Either way, the reaction by Japan's medical establishment was to treat trans medicine as off limits for about thirty years. Not that people didn't go overseas. But trans rights themselves also got placed out of mind.

They also had another charge against him for diverting pharmaceutical stock to gangsters. They were going to get him either way, is what it seems.

In the decision, the judge at the trial found that yes the doctor was supplying potentially life saving treatment, but was doing it "without proper steps being followed", such as the lengthy psych evals Benjamin etc. were doing. So, he was found guilty of unapproved sterilization.

The police thought this could be a loophole in the prostitution laws and decided they wanted to close it. Someone suggested they use... the country's eugenics laws to do that.

The main focus of the incident was Japan's police wanting to enforce the newly minted prostitution ban (1958). However, some trans women found among some "blue boys" (male prostitutes, in short) who were arrested were found to have received bottom surgery from a gynecologist.

This drops next month. It's a film adaptation of the Blue Boy Incident, the trial that caused Japan's medical community to institute a thirty year moratorium on trans health care from the 1960s to the 1990s.

Can be if your floors can accommodate them. If you've got stacks of books and what not around... Not so much. Sometimes they have trouble with area rugs too. They bump into the edge and think they hit a wall instead of going on the rug.

1. Last night, 26 Senate Dems helped pass a NDAA containing a military trans sports and surgery ban and dropped demands for protections against US troop deployments in the bill.

It is the latest in the national fight over must-pass bills during the shutdown.

I am looking at papers from around 2013-2018 on GAC. These accusations were already being made by then. Presumably because the model of treating all gender non conforming kids as trans until the majority "desisted" was still in use by many. The papers show how this was misguided. IN 2013.

It's funny because I'm reading research on the affirming approach (esp for trans youth) from the early 2010s, based itself on research from the 00s and earlier. Science progressed. Some people, it seems, did not, and want the world to wind back to please them.

This is indeed the slide I hear all the time. In the end the only birth control they consider real winds up being a version of the rhythm method (that they claim totally isn't). Everything else is somehow abortion. And I am including condoms here.
