That time I found a dehydrated Ring tail possum on my fence. It was dusk and I saw a shadow on my fence that looked like a giant rat and I literally jumped. It was very sluggish so I contacted a wildlife support volunteer and they just advised me to let it go. I hope it survived.

My journey into science started with a love of animals and wondering why they behave the way they do. With my wife’s support, I followed that passion. Amazingly, my passion changed to virology, inspired by my honours research at the CSIRO ACDP. But I still pick up the camera from time to time.

I just wrote this with the Prof Nancy Segal, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of twins. I hope you learn something. I did.

Genes, environment or a special bond? Why some twins talk and think in unison
Twins Bridgette and Paula Powers have gone viral for the way they speak in unison, using the same gestures and words.

Wonderful to attend the Discovery Tour for the Day of Immunology VIC. Amazing to see passionate researchers in infection & immunity sharing their work. Big thanks to Rachel Webb for taking the time to chat — my son absolutely loves immunology! #DayofImmunology #Immunology2025

One of my all-time favourite places to visit is Lake Elizabeth. It's been some time since I've had the opportunity to photograph some wildlife. Unfortunately, after finding the green little bird and snapping a couple of shots, I stepped on a stick and rolled my ankle so badly I thought I broke it.

I wonder if this doesn't have a benefit. Currently, competitiveness is something that is an increasing issue. Far too many graduates with few positions and opportunities. However, I don't necessarily think this singular benefit outweighs the suggested problems facing PhD. candidates.

You need to stop using the wrong term. He is not a sceptic; he is an anti-vaxxer. A sceptic questions claims and evaluates evidence, while he outright rejects the overwhelming scientific consensus on vaccine safety. He continues to spread misinformation. Call him what he is!

It is so crazy and sad. Not only is it going to impact so many Americans, but it will also impact the rest of the world.

Didn't he just try to blame a lack of funding, among other things, for the flight tragedy? I'm nowhere near qualified to even discuss this in any meaningful way. I just mention this out of an admittedly ignorant position.

While the primary focus of this article is aimed at those in a relationship, I see benefits for colleagues, teachers, and friends. An opportunity to empathise with those living with ADHD and truly understand the struggles they encounter daily.

"If You Love Me, Please Take This Seriously"
We don’t mean to hurt you. But we do — again and again. You feel like screaming, pulling out your hair, or lying in bed and crying, “When will she get it? Will this ever stop?” I don’t have all the an...

My first post on BlueSky is to say Happy Birthday to Alan Alda! Below is one of my favorite quotes, and he is also an excellent science communication advocate.

Wow. I approve of this post. Absolutely love him. He is such a kind person.

Welcome to bluesky. I hope you enjoy it here. I could not stand twitter even though it was the place to be for science. However, here, I get to enjoy and share my own science.

Also, I do get that currently whatever we type into chatgpt, we are already giving away freely. However, it is still within a country subject to laws similar to what I am accustomed to.

While I recognise that the media should be taken with a grain of salt. I am concerned that previous reports concerning china's apps are an accurate representation of what we should expect from an LLM in China. Their laws on the use of information and privacy are different.
