I'm not trying to sell it back to you or argue about it

It just is what it is, if you don't like it, it's ok

It is sorta meant for the kind of people that nullified attrition in attrition heavy games by just having a single encounter per day, so they don't need to force it in like this

Also, the fact that the game has no true gameplay loop is also very much meant to be

The game assumes you fight the thingies cause fighting the thingies is cool and fun, so you don't really need much mechanical incentive built in outside of it

There very much are rules for fleeing encounters thou, as in, you turn back and use your actions to run away

It works better and more consistently than having bespoke rules IMO

My Age of Ashes party had to flee several times in order to not get killed

Yeah, this is one of the main selling points of the game, so if you don't like it, there's no real way around it

The very concept of "adventuring day" barely exists, and there's no true automatic pacing mechanism out of encounters

It's not a game of attrition and it's not meant to be

I get really disturbed by age play not for any moralistic reason but because I'm that kind of autistic person that effectively acts like a kid when feeling safe so I go "how is this a fetish? This is just life. Wait, so you don't play with toys out of a kink scene? Why?"

The whole way the metaphor behind "The Beast" is done is so tasteful and gut wrenching

If you just stop and explain it will just sound cliche, since it's pretty archetypical on a base level, but the execution itself is fantastic
