"It never hurts to be wary."

"Truly," Sqh bared his teeth for the briefest instant.

"Do not tell me you have fallen for instinctual desires!" He laughed. "Will you throw yourself into the afterlife with him when he is punished for his crimes?"

"Have I a choice?" Sqh glowered.

eyes on me," Sqh responded through gritted teeth.

"You have my frigid nephew quite ensnared. I had worried for your safety, but not even an eternity is kept by him from you," he mocked, glancing at his bond mark.

"It seems your warnings were a waste of parchment,"Sqh responded.

He continued to watch him as he, who had brought his own servant, sent him off to make tea for them.

"My dear Qh, how long as it been since our paths last crossed?" He asked, sitting loftily at the tea table.

"Should they be said to have ever stopped crossing? You are keeping

others, meaning that Lgj had a mind for plots and a deadly ambition.

Mbj's father must have been a formidable man to remain alive to take the throne and to keep his son alive long enough to inherit it.

He should be exceedingly wary of this man, he told himself.

grandfather continued to have kids even into old age.

How bitter he must have been, Sqh sneered, to have the right to the throne so out of reach--

But he was the only uncle Mbj had.

Sqh doubted that a man who could have two sons so apart in age didnt fill in the gaps with

The first person arrived past midnight, coming in through the front door like he was walking into his own residence.

He bore a striking resemblance to Mbj, but wasn't old enough to look like anyone who he could call his uncle. Though, he supposed, it could just be that Mbj's

came across his feed at unreasonable hours of the night.

Since Sqh was known to be arrogant and vain, even having fought with Mbj, he would present himself as the queen of the ND to Lgj and Ming Fan.

The final touch was a pair of gloves to hide the damage to his hands.
vividestlist.bsky.social
He bathed and rubbed a scent suppressing ointment on his glands.

As for his disheveled hair and appearance, Sqh decided to do what he could by braiding his hair and loading it with accessories, then gave a light touch of makeup he'd learned to do watching whatever reel

play this game and win at any cost.

He put the diary back into the floor and replaced the panel, then went around and put the room back to its original state as best as he could. The things that were broken he would call the result of a fit from being cast from Mbjs side.
vividestlist.bsky.social
It was a sobering thought, especially now that Sqh had taken his place. He had even experienced that fact firsthand through Mbj's bond mark and all the things that came with Ming Fan's arrival.

But Sqh had just started and now he was full of spite with enough anger to learn to
vividestlist.bsky.social
this diary with no audience, Sqh could feel the full weight of his burden. Maybe his arrogance and bad attitude were his ways of exerting control when he had none. Being an omega his whole life, maybe he never thought he would be in control of his life or body.
vividestlist.bsky.social
It seemed he had inherited nearly all of the problems that Sqh could only shake off in death, Sqh thought, saying a short prayer in his heart, hoping that he found peace.

Even if Mbj called him arrogant, even if he came off as having a bad attitude in the letters he sent, in
vividestlist.bsky.social
Sqh didnt have any proof that Lgj had fooled the empress or that Mbj had no desire or plans to engage in a coup against CQ. All he had were his own speculations that what Lgj wanted might have gone even further than just the ND. Otherwise, why involve the empress?
vividestlist.bsky.social
If that was true, then it meant Sqh now knew who the contact was that he would be meeting that night. As for motivation, it was clear that he was likely next in line for the throne and meant to take the title of king by force.

Knowing all this still meant nothing.

to be trusted and that he would even be reporting Sqh's behavior to him to make sure he didnt do anything out of line.

Except he hadnt done that, but Ming Fan had still arrived knowing about Sqh and Mbj's relationship, meaning that his uncle lurked nearby at all times.
vividestlist.bsky.social
The remainder of the journal was filled with a palpable frustrated sorrow at being born an omega. He wished he was nobody and nothing. He wished the coercive letters would stop. He had even gone so far as to entrust the matter to Shen Jiu, only for him to tell Sqh that Lgj was
vividestlist.bsky.social
minutes.

It was to remind Sqh that he would have no allies or access to them once in the ND. It was to further push him into Lgj's arms when he arrived.

Sqh wrote of begging the empress to let him free, but to no avail. In the end, he was told his only freedom would be death.
vividestlist.bsky.social
He talked about his thinly veiled threats as he wished him a safe journey, reminding him to pack plenty of essentials as there were thousands of miles between his nephew's territory and CQ. He told him of the unforgiving weather that could freeze anyone searching for freedom in
vividestlist.bsky.social
Sqh continued to read the increasingly erratic, desperate words of the other Sqh. He read as he cursed his fate as an omega, subjected to everyone's whims and on the brink of chaining himself to two new masters.

He talked about the increasing frequency of letters from Lgj.
vividestlist.bsky.social
Sqh frowned, reading and rereading the passage, thinking he must have misunderstood. Mbj's uncle? Sqh hadnt seen so much as a shadow of such a man. If he was really so invested in getting Sqh on his side, shouldnt he have made his presence known by now?
vividestlist.bsky.social
"His uncle has reached out to me upon hearing the news to regale me with stories of the type of death I may hope to face should I ever offend my soon to be husband. I know not why, but it is to be assumed it is not for my best interest. A spy, likely, is what he needs."
vividestlist.bsky.social
It was clear from his writing that he hated the marriage, furious with being backed against a wall, forced to do Shen Jiu's bidding and terrified of the man he was meant to marry.

"The closest a man could surely come to being a demon, or perhaps a demon being a man," he wrote.
vividestlist.bsky.social
Upon reading the first page, Sqh quickly realized it was a diary, dated and in neat handwriting.

He felt like he could cry with joy, immediately flipping through it until around the day he had first appeared and skimming it for any mention of Shen Jiu or Mbj.
vividestlist.bsky.social
some more effort, Sqh was able to pry it loose.

The pain in his palm and finger didnt mean a thing when he saw the dirt colored bound book waiting for him. His hands shook as he reached for it, nervous that it would hold nothing or everything.

of success. He broke several nails, but refused to give up, yanking his hair pin out and jamming it into the small crack between the one he wanted to lift and the one next to it, trying to use the leverage to lift it.

The priceless accessory bent under the pressure, but after
