Another soul weighed down by gravity. I love to think about RPGs and manga.

I have a background in political sociology, but I try to keep that off the tl. Here’s to hoping for a better world.

Made a new 3x3 for the sky.

Kept it to one title per series/studio. Titles in the alt text.
Move over “For sale: baby shoes, never worn”, “My other HDD is fading” has rolled into town.
I think my other HDD is fading, and I'm gonna scream if so. At least I have something to help beck it up if it is...

The real weird thing about manga-twitter is that it has devolved into console wars tier shitposting.

Like there’s apparently a beef between fans of Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. They’re down in the comments, battling about who is worse at writing women like it’s goddarn tennis or something.
Reading "Chainsaw Man guy watched porn" discourse on X and losing my mind laughing I thought we were past this shit

I can't fathom why people always get upset when The Big Popular Game wins The Big Popular Game Award.

In general I think there's a lot of missed opportunities in "testing" player knowledge in smart ways. It doesn't need to be a gotcha but simple stuff like making sure the player has been paying attention.

Like early Trails is good at this, by giving low-stakes questions that with tiny rewards.
It’s Obra Dinn. Obra Dinn gives you a structure to work in that makes you feel like you’re smart even if you’re not *that* smart. It’s baffling that more AA/AAA games have not folded it into their games RPing ‘smart’ characters. (Even tho I’ve been pitching them for years.)
So what's a UX that feels like being the world's greatest detective?

Maybe... walking into a room, glancing around, and noticing something everyone else missed? To Batman, the clues are so obvious they might as well glow yellow.

Oh. Oh no. Ohhh no no no no n-3/7

Apparently they've been making a Cardcaptor Sakura sequel manga, and you'll never guess what happens to the cards

I don't generally bemoan that artists fall off relevancy with time, but it's kinda sad that CLAMP has been reduced to making Netflix shows and Yu-Gi-Oh knock-offs.

One day, I'll find the right person to watch Magic Knight Rayearth with...
Working Designs brought us Magic Knight Rayearth 27 years ago (1998) for the Sega Saturn!🔥🌊🍃 The isekai premise was MADE for an RPG (the girls even lampshade this), but we can also relish the return of a *new* MKR anime in the near future.

Clair Obscur is a Final Fantasy-like

Dark Souls is a Dragon Quest-like

I did it, I solved it for everyone.

Never been in to streamers, but every time this guys pops up I’m just glad that there’s someone out there who is actually shooting straight instead of whatever vapid nonsense the streaming space usually gets up to.

There’s actually a lot of stuff about Fate that makes much more sense when you learn how it was originally meant to be:

man, I was bobbing along to this until the chorus hit
mysterious thing about being an Australian anime fan is a couple of times an anime would get an english cover of its original japanese OP song

So the version of Cardcaptors we got was the Animax dub but an english cover of Catch You Catch Me
Cardcaptors OP 1 (Australian Opening)

I hate to say this, because Lineham is a huge piece of shit, but I think anyone should read the actual verdict before commenting.

Even when it sucks, we need to be able to engage with substance instead of relying on headlines and presuppositions.

Love it when people’s response to the SEGA/Atlus rerelease article is that they should just allow upgrade packs.

Because look, I agree that’s the ethical approach, but there’s a reason why they can’t do that:

People would realize how bad most of them are and would stop buying them.

Fucking wild to start a legal statement about harrassment against a member of a minority group, by stating that you won't engage with the context behind said harassment.

Do I know any British people who can clear something for me?

Do UK courts not post their verdicts online, so you can read the actually assessment from the judge and not just the rendition by the media?

If shoegaze was a video game genre, there would be endless discussions about what constitutes shoes and/or whether gazing is a requirement

In the year of our Lord 2025, you still can’t take screenshots of the ending in P5R on PlayStation 4/5.

Tried to think of something truly useless:

The original PC version of Trails in the Sky didn’t have features like the monster guide and stuff.

It was only patched over from the PSP port by XSEED along with stuff like updated textures and widescreen support.
i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago

so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

Great month for DS games tbh
Detective Instinct releases in just TWO DAYS! On Steam and Nintendo Switch 👍

If narrative adventure games that feel a little like something you might have played on the DS back in the day are your thing, don't miss it 👁️

In P5 there's a dating system (like an actual Tokimeki Memorial-type system, not just the social links), where you can hang out with your friends and invite them to different locations and give them gifts.

But if you actually know what you're doing, there's 0 reason to interact with the system.
