I've never been a "We need a new Constitutional Convention" guy but I am now. We have shown that we cannot be trusted in picking Presidents and so Articles 1 and 2 need to be repealed and replaced with a parliamentary system.

And for fun throw in that Republicans only count as 3/5ths of a person.

Madison and Hamilton messed up by bringing their personal antagonism towards Parliament into the Constitutional Convention and making the Head of State and the Head of the Government the same person. We should have gone with an honorary Head of State and a Prime Minister.

I heard someone talk about the Founders' view of the Speaker of the House and it stuck with me.

Madison and Hamilton envisioned a political world where the Speaker had his or her own ambitions in a "Team of Rivals" type situation. Not a Speaker who is nothing more than the President's chode.

I was starting to feel pretty sad about the White House getting destroyed, and then I remembered seeing a story a couple of weeks ago about how much of the restoration of Notre Dame has been completed in just 6 years.

The White House can be rebuilt.

I think he got shot during the push into Luxembourg in early September. After he got out of the hospital in France a few weeks later, I think that's when he got put on the guard duty while he recuperated.

He said his favorite memory was getting yelled at by Omar Bradley for not saluting. He didn't salute because they were getting fired at by a German sniper and had been told to not salute so that the sniper wouldn't notice a high value target. My granddad saluted and got away as fast as possible.
