Comhghairdeas Catherine Connolly on becoming the 10th Uachtarán na hÉireann

When the first President of Ireland was elected, the world was on the brink of war. Today, we face that same challenge

Donald Trump now claims paracetamol / tylenol causes autism.

Across Europe & the rest of the world, experts agree: it’s safe for pregnant women. There’s no link to autism.

Trust science. Trust doctors.
Trust the rest of the world - not Trump’s America.

Should every message you send be scanned before it’s delivered?

The EU’s Chat Control plan risks weakening encryption, treating everyone as suspects & exposing us to hacks.

Protecting children needs better policing & education - not mass scanning.

🌍 The 80th UN General Assembly is underway

But wars rage on: 🇵🇸 Palestine faces genocide, 🇸🇩 Sudan’s civil war displaces millions, 🇨🇩 DR Congo sees mass killings, 🇺🇦 Ukraine continues to defend itself from Russian invaders.

The UN must act - protect civilians, end the wars, demand justice.

Once again, the UK’s far-right want to leave the ECHR. But the Good Friday Agreement - which ended decades of conflict - depends on it

Without ECHR protections, peace in Northern Ireland is at risk

Northern Ireland is both the UK's and Ireland's responsibility - conflict must never return

Happy Independence Day, Ukraine! 🇺🇦

For 33 years, Ukraine has stood proud & free. Today that freedom is under attack

Russia sees us in Europe as small & insignificant. But when we stand united, no global power can push us around. A free Ukraine means a free Europe 💙💛

Today, the UN has confirmed famine in Gaza. Like Ireland’s Great Famine, it’s not nature - it’s political.

In 1840s, Britain let millions starve. Now, Israel blocks aid & weaponises hunger. This is a crime against humanity. Europe must not stay silent.

We wouldn't accept our country losing territory - so why should Ukraine?

If we allow Ukraine to be carved up, Putin wins.

Ukraine deserves its full freedom, its full sovereignty, and every inch of its territory back!

Trump's #tariffs slap, and the #EU commits to buy 750B$ of US crude, LNG & nuclear energy.

That's almost x4 what we buy now so it's both unfeasible & against the green transition.

Unhappy with the negotiations?
Let's make the EU a democracy with a government elected by the people!
