It was my pleasure to welcome DFLers to the 4th District at today's SCC meeting in New Brighton! My thanks go to those at today's meeting putting in the work to ensure we defeat the Republicans enabling this cruel, corrupt, and chaotic administration in 2026.

As ICE and federal immigration authorities are targeting our communities, I want all Minnesotans to know their rights and be able to inform others so we can uphold due process and the rule of law.

I'm so saddened to learn of Andrena Guines' passing over the weekend. Andrena was a friend and valuable resource to so many in our party and a dedicated Vice Chair of the 4th District DFL. My deepest condolences to Andrena's friends and family during this difficult time.

The only "garbage" is Donald Trump's racist, pathetic attacks on our fellow Minnesotans.
Trump disparages Somalis: ‘We don’t want them in our country’
At a cabinet meeting Tuesday, President Trump called Minnesota’s Somali community “garbage,” as media outlets report his administration will target Twin Cities Somali immigrants.

“'If Burma is unsafe for American visitors, it is certainly unsafe for those who have fled the country and been given protected status,' U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum said in a statement. The Democrat is a longtime advocate for Minnesota’s Karen population and co-chair of the Burma caucus."

When Donald Trump is in trouble, he always falls back to what he knows: throwing attacks and creating chaos. I stand proudly with Minnesota's Somali community against Trump's ugly attacks meant to distract from his failures as President.

More than a dozen state and local leaders denounced Trump's actions to target Somali Minnesotans through TPS and pledged support.

Right after voting NO on the Senate's terrible deal last week, I joined DFLers in Senate District 41 for their monthly meeting to discuss my vote and to thank them for the work they're doing to help deliver DFL victories up and down the ballot in 2026. Good to be with them!

The House and the Senate have both passed legislation to release the Epstein files. It's now up to President Trump to sign the bill as he said he would.

The Senate’s terrible deal does nothing to address the looming healthcare crisis coming from Republicans’ refusal to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits and the Medicaid and Medicare cuts they made in the Big Ugly Bill.

The Senate’s government funding bill fails to address the Republican health care crisis and cuts SNAP by $18 billion. It’s a bad deal for the American people — I’ll be a strong NO when this bill comes up for a vote in the House of Representatives.

Earlier this week, I held a forum at a Saint Paul food shelf on the impacts of the Trump administration's tampering with SNAP benefits. With today's court order, the administration needs to obey the law and ensure SNAP recipients don't go hungry.

While some in the Trump administration say food benefits could restart as soon as this Wednesday, the uncertainty is stressful for Minnesotans who rely on them and food shelves in the state.

This bill wouldn’t just send Border Patrol agents into the Boundary Waters—this would allow the Department of Homeland Security to bulldoze habitats, trails, streams, and campgrounds to construct Border Patrol installations in America’s most breathtaking and scenic wilderness.
