gorgeous. every shot is so carefully thought out. i know lang said he would've taken out the supernatural elements but i thought the effects were cool, though i can see how the film's message re the seductiveness of fascist thought would've been more powerful without them. fascinating to me that it focuses on the director of an insane asylum and indirectly shows how bad the conditions were even when presenting it as clean and modern care. the dangers of seeing yourself as a paternalistic savior of the people, etc.
