one workaround I sometimes do is to upscale pics by 800%, pics feel less blurry that way, especially pixel art

That seems to be the case, yeah. I have one palette exanimation as well as three 0x0C 8x8s line exaninations triggered by ON/OFF switches.

So far it seems it's just a one-frame thing with some of the levels that happen to have HDMA. I'll have to test it further though...

Is anyone familiar with weird glitching screens happening in the very first frame of a level having an HDMA?
Funnily, only some levels get this frame of weird scanlines and then it returns normal.

I probably have to port to a new rom...? 🫠
