Toddler just asked me to hold his yogurt so he could better dance to some tunes and have never seen myself in him more.

Fascinated by how every clandestine photo of the notes from those in power, universally, is highly embarrassing.

ICYMI for this week's writing on academic labor from the book project.

Posted another bit of the book. This time talking about how cultures of intellectualism deny the ways in which academic labor affects the teaching body.

I know @walshbr.bsky.social has listened to some (including for his walshbr.com/dh-on-the-go) and may have recommendations of ones he's fully listened to & thought well done?

Would be interested in talking further though @ellenforget.bsky.social! I’m an audiobook obsessive and read them almost exclusively these days.

I just looked through my running list from this year and can’t think of a single one that includes those components. The best one as performances go that I’ve read was Ratchetdemic by Christopher Emdin.

I have a bunch I need to update that list with! I can’t think of any that match your specific asks - for the most part when read as an audiobook I believe narrators tend to not include the things you’re mentioning @ellenforget.bsky.social. No notes, bibliography, or citations.

Can anyone recommend an academic audiobook that was well done? Looking for a good example of how to handle citations, footnotes, bibliography, etc. in audiobook format. Ideally an academic monograph. Please only recommend if you've read the audiobook and thought it was well done.

Got the first hardcover of my book Thriving As An International Scientist (@ucpress.bsky.social, out Oct 28)! 🎉

What began as an awkward office pic request turned into a photoshoot by colleagues on Princeton's iconic Clio Hall with Morrison Hall (named after Toni Morrison) in the background.

Proud to serve as the publishing editor for this fantastic piece. The authors position refusal as an ethical/methodological stance for working with "materials that depend on the objectification of, and through that objectification the commodification of, human subjects." It's a must read!

Had a really beautiful weekend in Maine this weekend for the wedding of a close friend. But lord all the travel in each travel really took it out of me.

ICYMI I posted a historical view of the Praxis Program's funding structure that was described elsewhere as "extremely wonky but in a very good way."
