I hated this part of the Marine Corps until I went to USMC NCO school and had to learn how to call cadence and close order drill where I became an absolute drill FANATIC. I still watch this stuff today like most fans watch football games.

Sure, we have an airbase in Qatar but we had them for longer and with deeper ties in NATO allied countries.

What strategic advantage does a military airbase base give Qatar way tf over here?

Me too, we'd have to become a territory like American Samoa, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands which generally pay their income taxes to the territory's tax agency, not the IRS.

I just can't see the rest of the country willfully giving up their biggest donor state though.

I couldn't tell you for sure but I do know that it varies with each state. Also, in some states the N.G. is a part of the state militia that can be federalized by the potus, but in some others there also are separate State Defense Forces ("State Guard") that are not part of the federal military.

As far as I know, nothing is federated at the state level, federal agencies like the FBI just have offices in each state but they all report to Washington D.C.

I think the closest thing to a federal LE agency that states have are state troopers then it breaks down to local, county and city.

My point is that everyone would have the potential if the rich would just make things fair and equitable for everyone else instead of amassing hoards of $$$ solely for themselves.

I'll never understand how/why ceo's are awarded billions in bonuses off the backs of their workers.
