1/2 BWSC crews have planned additional valve repair work in the area of Charter St and Hanover St in the #NorthEnd. Work is planned to start AFTER the school day. Shut off is necessary to investigate the cause of the additional valve leaks. Customers who have water service during the repairs

BWSC will be at the Mattapan Boston Public Library tomorrow, from 1:30-3:30pm, to pay your bill in person. Come by our table and make sure you or someone you know is signed up for our senor discount, which covers 30% of the water, sewer, and stormwater portion of the bill. Hope to see you there!

Last week, it was great to get out of the cold for a presentation at the BHA Doris Bunte apartments in #Roxbury. During that time, we spent time with seniors going over what can and cannot be flushed down the toilet. Remember only the 3Ps can be flushed! Thank you for inviting us.

With the frigid temps in the forecast in addition to protecting your pipes, protect your water meter from icy drafts and freezing temperatures. Most frozen meters are caused by drafts from an open basement door or window.

Boston saw 23 inches of snowfall this week and so far our Public Works personnel and contractors have removed more than 35,000 cubic yards of snow from city streets to our snow farms.

Be mindful of hypothermia if you are out during this cold advisory. Some common symptoms are uncontrollable shivering, memory loss, disorientation, incoherence, slurred speech, drowsiness, and apparent exhaustion. Contact a healthcare provider if you or someone you know shows any of these symptoms.

Water service is disrupted to the MISHAWUM PARK property in Charlestown while BWSC crews excavate and perform repairs on a nearby broken water main. Area affected includes Tibbetts Town Way and Dunstable St. Updates to follow.

Mayor Wu has declared a snow emergency. Keep catch basins and fire hydrants clear. For a map of catch basins and fire hydrants use our link. If able, clear off snow so the Boston Fire Department can access them quickly in case of emergency.

Cold weather can be dangerous. Layer up, limit time outside, let faucets drip, and use space heaters safely.

Renters have the right to heat from Sept 15–June 15.
If you don’t have heat, contact your landlord. If they’re not responsive, call Inspectional Services or 3-1-1.
