Under state law, municipalities may charge their water utilities a “tax equivalent” similar to what a private utility would pay.

Damakant Jayshi The Wausau City Council on Tuesday narrowly approved a conditional forgivable loan agreement with the Judd S. Alexander Foundation for redevelopment of the former MBX property. The loan proposal surfaced several weeks after a Sept. 23 Council vote to buy the contaminated riverfront parcel at 201 N. First Ave. for $900,000. The purchase was financed with Tax Increment District 8 funds and support from the Alexander Foundation.

Dear editor, Why is Rep. Pat Snyder standing with GOP party bosses to block postpartum healthcare expansion in Wisconsin? There may be over $1.1 million reasons why. It is rare these days for politicians of opposing parties to agree on much. So when Wisconsin lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill to expand postpartum Medicaid coverage for new moms and babies in Wisconsin, it felt like a breath of fresh air.
