THRILLER Thursday: TERROR IN TEAKWOOD. This one freaked me out as a kid, and still works now that I'm an adult. A pianist wants to play a concerto that requires a very specific set of hands...

Think about the million scripts already finished... Some of them fit that need. (But do they suck?)

I think writing something that fits
1 need isn't a good bet, writing something in a popular genre or subgenre gives you a lot of chances. If this place says no, the next place could say yes.

A perfectly safe way to shoot one of the hairiest car chases ever put on film.

Screenwriters need to factor this into their dreams - most of what you are paid for writing is never going to end up on screen.

They are one of a hundred beauty pageant participants at the studio or production company and only one can win. Yours was still beautiful.

On this date in 1949 Alfred Hitchcock's UNDER CAPRICORN was released in the USA (yes, that's 3 in a row). A big, glossy, silly soap opera that just doesn't work, starring Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotton, Michael Wilding, Cecil Parker, Margaret Leighton.

That guideline is BS. It's going to cost a million dollars a page to make the film - every page needs to earn its keep. If it's not one kind of excitement or suspense, it's another.

The film has lots of comedy scenes to break tension, and emotional scenes that also pay their way.

Because the novel (and all of the others) will be based on scripts, they kind of follow 3 acts, and the scripts weren't written 8 sequence, they do have a big action scene every 10 pages. 1/2

Sorry for that! I was conversing in #ScriptChat for an hour.

(That SPEED on a plane script actually began as DIE HARD on a plane, because SPEED didn't exist when I wrote it.)
