A wonderful mystery, the way the sermon always emerges from the fog, even when you've given up hope!

Finally saw Adolescence. I can't help wondering about the Emmy, and whether it went to the right actor.

Well, lots of lovely things in here, me hearties ... Aren't we lucky!

Grappling with the mammon of wickedness in a wonderfully quiet house: what early mornings are for.

Thank heaven the Oblate didn't get into Cambridge. The Times says that O & C have slipped down the order, while Durham (where he is going) gets bronze. Good job it's all league-tabley nonsense.

Some astonishing pics from the woods this morning, taken by my friend rebekahcwhite. See more on her insta.

A grey but otherwise glorious day; the bluebells are holding their own, a purple froth on the all-surrounding sea of green; and a good friend to drink beer with in the Plough. Bliss.

I am sorry, Blue Sky. I just haven't managed to wean myself off the other place. And, to be honest, I've pretty much completely lost interest there, too. Maybe sharing my trivial opinions with the whole known world just doesn't float my boat any more. What can I say?

I know the Ang Lee Sense and Sensibility so well, and love it so much, that I find the reading of the novel a bit of a drag. This makes me so very sad.

It's a strange feeling, lying sleepless in bed and longing only to get up, drink coffee, and write Sunday's homily; which will in part be about the deep sleep of Adam and of Christ.

So. Saw Conclave. Okay, even good. But not a film with awards coming out of its ears, in my view. I'd probably still choose Shoes of the Fisherman or The Two Popes for my favourite #papacy movie.

The sun shines brightly on a dog- walk in the slightly less muddy woods. The days are already living up to their lenten promise.

@churchtimes.bsky.social duly read. Always a tricky experience. ('A duty to read; a sin to enjoy,' they used to say.) @petergraystone.bsky.social was the best bit by miles: glorious, gentle, self-deprecatory wit.

Well the C of E is baring its soul (sic) all over twitter, the haters are hating, and others are wondering why so many are hiding under the Bluesky duvet. Humph.

I have at last finished this odd novel. Not unlike Decline and Fall, it is relentless in its slapstick tumbling. Its creator could certainly write comic prose, if perhaps a little too abundantly.

Last night I met one of my larger and more striking parishioners. And he was a gentle as a lamb.

Twitter is becoming more and more depressing to see, with its constant stream of Truskery and all the vile madness. I can see a gradual moving onto this platform in consequence.

Well, the socials got no better over the weekend. Thank heaven for squabbling eagle pics.

That said, I can recommend taking the peppermint teabag out of the cup when it cools enough and rubbing it into one's eyelids: a beverage and beauty treatment in one.

I still don't instinctively come on to this site. Mind you, saying anything anywhere is increasingly a bit of a drag. Quietness is more and more attractive, certainly some days.
