"The newly formed North Western Railway's first locomotive. Recently acquired and fitted with both steam and vacuum brakes. Here No.1 stands in ex-works condition in the company's new livery."

Flush rivetted tenders came first then the rivetted ones later on

I was looking for but here's a brassmaster's kit of it, pretty sure this variation came with the 4Fs when they were outshopped (Might be wrong on that though) Then came the one we all know and love (somewhat) with a different design to the cab area

Yes it is! As I understand it the Deeley tender came first ofc with another body before the one I've just posted of MR No.1000's tender, next came the Fowler design which was shorter but taller and that was constructed in 1924 but with a different cab area. I cannot for the life of me find the one-

"Here is NWR No.2 in ex-works condition, fitted with a brand new cab and tender body. The tender inspired by the nearby Midland Railway Deeley tenders. Designed to hold slightly more coal and water and Cab designed for further cover for the crew."

Hello I'm still alive - haven't been massively active on here or over on the bad place, but definitely going to be using BlueSky as the base of operations from now on I reckon...

Anyhow, here's one of my favourite photographs I took just before Christmas!

I was gonna wait until he was done but I'm way too excited with how this is turning out.

Here's my 16mm live-steam 'Stanley'!

Still needs a '2' on the cab side, lamp irons and vacuum pipes, but he's so close now - I can't wait to fire him up soon.

Something similar to this style wasn't seen until this era of mainline steam (in this country), mostly seen on Tangmere

Again wrong era of loco but hey ho
What seems to be refurbished NWR lamps fitted with discs seen in a few illustrations but these two are the main examples

Later NWR lamps to the BR (M) pattern
Wrong era of loco but I needed a decent loco to put them on

As BlueSky has just hit 20mil users, we thought we'd introduce ourselves!

We're the Talyllyn Railway - running from Tywyn on the Welsh Coast up into the mountains towards Abergynolwyn & Nant Gwernol.

In 1951 we became the World's First Preserved #Railway, starting the Heritage Railway movement!
14th May 1951 - Bill Trinder, one of our founding members, cuts the ribbon infront of the inaugural train of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society! No.1 'Tayllyn' at Nant Gwernol Station
