At the Autumn Budget, this government decided to approve new private finance in our NHS.

MPs need to have the facts: private finance is a danger to patients and a rip-off for taxpayers.

✍️ Take 2 mins to write to your MP asking them to attend our 'no new PFI in the NHS' parliamentary briefing.

Excellent piece @jontrickett.bsky.social

"Starmer has to explain whether the wider public is ideological in its support for public ownership of water, for example

The truth is that taking such an action is a pragmatic response to the failure of private ownership"

Trust in the UK’s system of government is at a record low, with most Britons yearning for political change and economic reform. The Left must see through its radical solutions.

‼️The promise that new private finance will be different is not adding up. All we're getting is PFI 2.0.

ACT NOW: Write to your MP. Give them the facts on PFI. https://weownit.org.uk/act-now/email-your-mp-nhs-private-finance-pfi-mim

🧐What is the DHSC hiding? And why are taxpayers and patients always the last to find out about decisions made about our healthcare? 2/3

🤔We asked the DHSC who has ultimate decision-making power to use private finance in new neighbourhood health centres, and whether communities would get a say in decisions to use private finance in their health facilities. 1/3

The continued privatisation of water is a choice - higher bills, catastrophic water outages and environmental devastation.

End privatisation of water now, starting with the collapsing Thames Water. 2/2

Last month, tens of 1,000s of people in Tunbridge Wells lost their water supply. It wasn't fully restored for 9 days.

Our privatised water system is crumbling before our very eyes. Water Company CEOs are finding it harder justify their eyewatering salaries as they oversee failure after failure. 1/2

We agree with @laylamoran.bsky.social💯.
Thames Water can't be trusted with our daily water supply, let alone large infrastructure projects. Last October they were ranked the worst water supplier in England by the Environment Agency.

It should be taken into public ownership without delay.
Thames Water failure predicted as MP questions reservoir plan
Thames Water says a planned £7.5bn reservoir is part of the biggest upgrade of its network in 150 years.

I don't want Keir Starmer to "feel the frustration"

I want him to BRING THAMES WATER INTO PERMANENT PUBLIC OWNERSHIP immediately

Tell Ofwat to say NO to the creditors lobbying to be allowed to release *illegal sewage for 15 years*

Disgraceful response

Shareholder payouts aren't just 'unfair', Prime Minister...
🤑 A third of our bills goes straight into the pockets of banks & shareholders, doing nothing to reduce bills or improve infrastructure.
We depend on water to live. It should belong to all of us.

🤩 THANK YOU to the brilliant @graceblakeley.substack.com for explaining so clearly why @ofwat.bsky.social must say NO to Thames Water 🚫

NO to a 35% bill increase
NO to pollution outside legal limits until 2040
NO to a dangerous new precedent for all privatised English water
We can't let Thames Water get away with this!

OCTOBER: Thames Water is locked in negotiations with Ofwat on a rescue deal which could see them relieved of fines for past OR future sewage dumping.

Is the Thames Water bailout plan - which relieves the company from fines for up to fifteen years - lawful?
A group of Thames Water’s senior creditors, London & Valley Water (“L&VW”), has submitted to Ofwat proposals for them to be relieved from fines for past or future sewage dumping for a period of up to fifteen years and to take a very modest haircut to their loans.
