Obviously. Although new ICE agents are unvetted criminals to start, and masks make sure no one can run their faces through white supremacist or other data bases.

This is why all cops should immediately require them to show their faces, get chain of command from them, and get warrant info.

Hey folks... do you want your highly important job back that you currently aren't getting paid for? Cool, cool...

The "intelligentsia" of the right, ladies and gentlemen.

Just a grifter that is possibly realizing that he's going to be the last one in the mass grave. Y'know... a (useful) moron.

Makes one wonder if axolotls shouldn't join the fight...
Maybe a mud puppy or a crested newt?

1. Never "allow" AI to infect systems. Just say NO to CoPilot
2. Use StartPage or DuckDuckGo for search
3. If you use Google, put "-AI" after your search. It should remove the overview
4. Trim liberally when you see gen AI posters pop up. I see AI images infrequently

Also, fear shouldn't be the catalyst for these things. Science should. The covid response WAS scientific... learning as we went. The fear was generally because of misinformation and people making more fear. Or dismissing science. It wasn't humanity's finest moment.

I'm a Michigander. When covid started, Guv Whitmer was very conservative in her shutdown of businesses, using emergency powers to continue them past our GOP congress. That should get you going in the right direction.

Laws are just laws, and changeable. Some are made in times of peace that bind hands in war. Some give freedoms when restriction for the greater good is needed.

There's still ongoing court cases about Covid restrictions. Laws were indeed broken to protect society.

Weird families have 6 y.o.s that write their first book.

I did that at 8, I believe. Totally still weird.

Problem: There are times when emergency powers are very warranted. Pandemic and catastrophe response, actual terrorism, war against the nation... might need to be addressed quickly to preserve life.

Assholes obviously take advantage of this fact.

If you're a fan that didn't follow that specific media, there's no telling when you will learn the news. Unless you're terminally online and stumble across someone chatting about it. The new normal.
westonhaus.bsky.social
The news is released by small media and is never picked up by MSM. So, if you're a direct fan, you may see it from a specific site. If you reshare, friends will know that likely won't reshare (or understand significance), ending the news "word of mouth".

Sure. Our on-line algorithms, even those with otherwise similar tastes, get segmented by the smallest things any more. Big names that die (see Diane Keaton today), have a wide ranging dissemination of the news. Greg Bear, Tom Robbins... have a much smaller and segmented following.
westonhaus.bsky.social
I'd read a number of Bear's books, and DO know David Brin a bit (he is NOT taking this administration well). But yeah... segmentation of a million different geekdoms into everyone's individual media streams is probably not great for general knowledge events.

Not yet? MTG is just a rank opportunist and enjoys making headlines by taking contrarian positions. We will see if the House ever gets back in session...

Delay, deny, disseminate...

Buddy: I'd like to make my whiny boss look even more weak and petty to compensate for him losing something he wasn't seriously in contention for... I know! Get the crayons and gold stickers out and I'll make his own personal award FROM ME!

That'll help things.

Qatar needs to go to Idaho to get some sweet yellow cake (uranium). Why not sell out the US entirely to make another rogue nuclear state?

Can't think of another reason to land there...

I don't know about "greatest" ally, but by the numbers of those who have tuned out, it is by far the majority of the allies of fascism.

To be fair, some people don't have the mental capacity to handle it without despair.

I wonder if one can get Adrenochrome infusion at Walter Reed? The stem cells await... /~s

If you think the NG or their on-the-ground leadership is fascist, maybe we should ask them first.

But yes, if they are all about attacking Americans in the cities, I'm perfectly fine with opposing them. I haven't seen any evidence in NG deployments thus far that THEY are doing the violence.

Quote from any of those 3:
"People have hated me for my behavior all of my life, I'm just running for office to pay it forward."

Delay, deny, disseminate. It's the Mike Johnson playbook.

How about Pritz goes out and talks to the Guard? Chats them up about his expectations of the governor while they are in his state?

Call a little powwow, find out what their orders really are (they're likely scared to hurt people too), and discourage violence while there.
