Yesterday, I read Chapter Four of @joycewhitevance.bsky.social’s book “Giving Up is Unforgivable.” I was reminded that Sen. Welch saying “Have you no sense of decency, sir?” heralded the end of McCarthyism. Things reach a collective point and symbols and signifiers show us that.

I trot these two BdB examples out every time some couch critic says a mayor controls the cops. They do not. Every cop in this country works with impunity. If a mayor agrees with them, great. If a mayor doesn't, they'll sick out, harass, publicly disrespect them, or worse and still do what they do.

There is only one terrorist organization running coordinated operations in U.S. cities, and it is the United States Federal Government.
