There was little love for President Donald Trump in front of the Roundhouse Saturday afternoon, where at least 500 protesters marched against the Trump administration, many viewing Good’s death as a flashpoint in what protesters have for months described as encroaching federal authoritarianism.

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

Yesterday, I read Chapter Four of @joycewhitevance.bsky.social’s book “Giving Up is Unforgivable.” I was reminded that Sen. Welch saying “Have you no sense of decency, sir?” heralded the end of McCarthyism. Things reach a collective point and symbols and signifiers show us that.

And I’ll tell you this:

Eras and empires have ended before around of deeply arational /instinctive symbolism sets off the collective imagination in a different direction.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Take your meds. Drink your water. Do your dishes. Make a comfort food. Watch a little trash tv. Talk to your friends. Disconnect for a bit when you need to. Find the ways to sustain yourself. We need you.

This is such an intense symbolic/archetypal moment.

Explicitly written out.

They killed GOOD.

So:

First we scheduled the chimney cleaner.

Second- we lit a fire and all the carbon monoxide detector alarms went off in sequence.

The first one I thought was the battery. The second one I believed.

My husband and I both let out heavy sighs multiple times a day. Like double digits both.

But:

He only sighs in response to something he finds an annoyance and I only sigh continuously for no reason at all.

I find his kind of sighs are worse than my kind - but of course he believes the reverse

Border Patrol has been hideously evil and violent for MUCH longer than ICE

I learned this fully FIFTY YEARS AGO.
Weird for the whole world to understand how violent Border & immigration police are when I’ve been terrified my whole life.
Listen: when I was 11-14 years old I lived in a safe house for undocumented workers, mostly hosted teenagers

At 12 I saw for the first, and not the last time, a 16 year old farm worker who had been beaten to a horrific pulp by US Border Patrol- under the Carter Adm.

I see the enemy and it is us

I trot these two BdB examples out every time some couch critic says a mayor controls the cops. They do not. Every cop in this country works with impunity. If a mayor agrees with them, great. If a mayor doesn't, they'll sick out, harass, publicly disrespect them, or worse and still do what they do.

And many local police departments filled with Nazis.
There is only one terrorist organization running coordinated operations in U.S. cities, and it is the United States Federal Government.
