This Saturday @11am!! We will meet at the corner of Central and Main outside of City Hall. Our Unity March will begin at 11:30 following our new route to Riverside Park for our Family Picnic! Our friends at Cargill will be cooking food and there will be yard games, face painters, and community!!

A British trans man and physician, Dillon authored Self: A Study in Ethics and Endocrinology (1946), one of the first books to discuss medical transition. He underwent early forms of gender-affirming surgery and became the first known trans man to receive phalloplasty.

After management at Dewey’s restaurant refused service to people in “non-conformist clothing,” queer youth staged a sit-in. Though some were arrested, the protest and leafleting campaign pressured the restaurant into changing its policy, making it one of the first successful queer sit-ins.

Nicknamed the “Einstein of Sex,” he advanced early understandings of sexual and gender diversity. His Institute for Sexual Science in Berlin was destroyed by Nazis in 1933, but his work remains foundational in queer history!

Magnus Hirschfeld (1868–1935)
A German Jewish physician and sexologist, Hirschfeld co-founded the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee in 1897, the world’s first organization to advocate for homosexual and transgender rights.

He later founded the Imperial Court System, which remains one of the largest LGBTQ+ charitable organizations worldwide!

A gay Latino drag performer and activist, Sarria was the first openly gay person to run for public office in the United States, in 1961. A fixture at San Francisco’s Black Cat Café, he used drag and performance as platforms for political organizing.
