It's not every day our vet team has to give a grass snake a warm bath, but that's exactly what the doctor (vet) ordered, to help rehydrate him.

Rescued by the RSPCA, after he was reported entangled in netting😩, the fly eggs on his body suggested he'd been there for a while😢.

Flashback Friday🦊

Our last group of fox cubs has finally headed out to their release site, and it's giving us all the feels🥹.

Just look how tiny they all were. 201 of them! That's how many cubs you have enabled us to take in, this year.

The swan rescued after she crash-landed into a tree, last week, is back with her partner and cygnet, and this could well be one of the most endearing releases... ever😍!

Watch ’til the end for her sweet welcome home dance🥰.

How beautiful is this water rail? 🤩 This water rail was certainly grounded, when x-rays revealed a displaced coracoid (part of the scapula). This would have been causing significant pain for the bird when attempting flight.

Today, we’re celebrating one of Britain’s most iconic animals – the badger! 🦡💚

This year, our team has been busy caring for over 58 badgers, including 17 cubs, who arrived tiny and vulnerable without the protection of their mothers.

Under the warmth of a heat lamp, this young male is fighting to survive.

Despite his condition, he is, incredibly, responding to stimuli, showing us the fighting spirit foxes are notorious for🧡.

After almost three weeks in care, our RTA owl is now up for release🥳.

We like to think the amazing support you all sent his way, earlier this month, gave him his fighting spirit. You guys really do make all the difference🥰.

Unfortunately, someone didn't give this swan the memo that she's a little too heavy to be trying to perch in trees...🫣

…which is exactly where she was found, trapped, after an obvious crash-landing.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall, a true giant in the world of conservation. Her legacy of hope and empathy for all living beings has been carried into every corner of the globe and shaped generations of conservationists.

This is not a happy chiffchaff chappie.

But we wouldn't be either, if we'd been inside a cat’s mouth😥. Luckily for him, though, he hasn't sustained any injuries. Looking a little shocked about his ordeal, quite understandably, he'll be kept in for the next few days, for monitoring.

After being spotted out in daylight alongside her tiny hoglet, this pair were brought in to us. Sadly, mum was struggling to breathe and, despite our vet, Judith's, best efforts, she didn’t make it. Her little one, thankfully, is healthy and already showing a big appetite!

These two were just a couple of weeks away from fledging, when they were targeted by a feline predator.

The pair will now have to remain with us whilst their injuries heal and we prepare them for the wild, again.

Believe it or not, in this photo, poor "Bambi's" injuries look much better than they did a few days ago. Caught in barbed wire around both of his hind legs, his constriction wounds took six days to fully develop, and the vet team have been cleaning and monitoring the injuries, regularly, ever since.

As most of our young badgers head towards a double-figured weigh-in, just as Simon liked them, this young male arrived with us at a mere 3.5kg - a quarter of the weight he should be for his age💔.

Introducing Charles🦊

As a resident of Buckingham Palace, it's no surprise he's in beautiful condition. Unfortunately, despite being able to run and jump, still, Charles has suffered a fracture to the elbow end of his humerus.

Rescued from pond netting, this redstart managed to come away unscathed from her ordeal and, once our vet, Judtih, had assessed that the bird could use all its extremities and was able to maintain flight, it was given a night of rest and recuperation, before being released back to its area.

It's not very often we see hedgehogs with puncture wounds, what with their 5000+ spines making it almost impossible for predators to infiltrate, but, this otherwise healthy male was transferred to us from a local vet practice, after a three-day stay.

You could forgive this fox for looking annoyed, given the multiple wounds across his back and legs.

Suffering with mange, as well as the wounds, this adult male is in, otherwise, great condition, weighing over 6kg. See? Healthy!

What coincides with the sun setting earlier? An increase in RTA owl admissions🥺.  This poor tawny was found in the middle of a road and was incredibly lucky to have been picked up before being struck again.

Collapsed and unable to use his rear legs, "Albany" was rescued by long-term volunteer, Mike and we’re happy to report that Albany has defied the odds. Following two days of little to no improvement, Albany was caught on CCTV, on his third day, standing up and eating!

Yes, this hoglet’s food bowl is bigger than her, but if you've ever cared for hoglets, you'll be aware of their penchant for walking through their food. We've been told it's our home-carers’ favourite hoglet move🤪.

Easily-stressed birds, like this goldcrest, may be small, but they can be our vet team’s biggest challenge.
Found grounded, once he arrived with us, vet nurse, Kayleigh, was able to give him a clean bill of health and test fly him - he passed with flying gold colours, which was a great relief.

This hedgehog was discovered trapped inside a pipe, along with another hedgehog that had, sadly, already passed away. Covered in dermatitis and the remanence of the deceased hedgehog, her ordeal would have been traumatising. But, thankfully, after a warm bath, she's eating well and a lot brighter.

"Barney" would like to show you his before and after, with his fluffy new coat coming through, since starting his mange treatment, last month. Whilst treatment for mange doesn't usually take very long, Barney is having to remain with us, as he is also has a small fracture to his ischium.
