Merkley had a pretty effective day.

Or will have, if you make this go viral.
MERKLEY: How do you feel about being responsible for hundreds of thousands of kids dying because of your sudden interruption in these key programs?

VOUGHT: I reject the assertion

MERKLEY: I find your response both ignorant & callous. Few Americans have had a more devastating & disastrous impact

I wish I'd had this example when I was teaching journalism to high school kids. It's not living up to it's "Fourth Estate" calling much these days...

Seriously, can someone, anyone please tell me why you know who can just order up all of these executive orders without any, zero, nada oversight? I mean, wtaf? I thought we had, ahem, "checks and balances"...

Anyone who thinks that these "rebounds" in the market are not market manipulation isn't paying attention. Send the Treasury Secretary out after a down day to suggest that talks with China are "progressing," but don't forget to grab some oversolds before you do. Brazen.

Idiots.
As reported last week, Trump is going to kill Head Start, utterly screwing 750,000 children who rely on it for child care and preschool and a million parents who count on it to stay in the workforce.

One thing you can do right now to push back against the oligarchs: Stop buying their products. Hell, stop buying new stuff in general. We need an army of non-consumers of all that crap we "want" but don't "need." #justsayin

I had an amazing interview with seven students and a head of school in Bangalore where kids are actually being told the truth about what's happening in the world and give the space and support to attack those challenges in meaninful and engaging ways. What a concept.

Here's what's lighting me up the last couple of days: I've found a couple schools, one in Bangalore and one in Compton, where students are being told the harsh truths about the world and are encouraged to work on meaningful projects to address those challenges.

What a concept.

My latest on Substack:

"Here's the point: it’s ok to feel 'woo-wee.' In fact, it may be required. Feeling yourself as land, or sensing all other life as kin, or allowing it all to “dream through us” is language that’s asking us to go into spaces we aren’t used to going...that's a good thing."

Dear Whoever Will Listen,

Eliminating the US Department of Ed and opening up school choice and giving public funds to private schools and enacting whatever the next move is to kill public education is will not improve the outcomes you are in a panic about and will likely lead to worse results. 1/
