Maybe we should have stopped after Friendster.
I hope people share funny Catherine O’Hara clips all day, but I keep thinking of how she and Eugene Levy melted our hearts in this scene from “A Mighty Wind.” Damn, I just love everyone in that cast. Everyone in this scene.

Abolish ICE. This agency cannot be redeemed. These killers must face justice.

We all have our issues with the Star Tribune, but it deserves Pulitzers for its work during this ICE occupation

I didn’t make it to downtown Minneapolis, but I joined a few hundred people for an ICE protest on Selby Avenue in St Paul. Too cold to take any photos and too cold for me to stay long.
I’m in awe of the thousands and thousands of people in Minneapolis who turned out in this weather.

Saw a message that they needed legal observers at the St Paul preschool where my kids went when they were little. Grabbed my coat and raced over. Turned out, thankfully, there was no ICE raid. They just have volunteers constantly guarding the parking lot in case ICE shows up. It’s 5 degrees F.

Imagine threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act on us and we’re just on a frozen lake like this …

Minneapolis’ Jeremy Messersmith sums up the current mood.
They played an edited version on the radio this morning and I couldn’t stop laughing. I have never heard so many bleeps.

Saw a post on one of my St Paul neighborhood Facebook groups about someone looking for a midwife for a pregnant non-White woman who is afraid ICE will accost her if she leaves her home to give birth and I am never going to forgive the politicians who brought us to this point.

Just thinking about this 30-year-old episode of “Newsradio” in which the character played by Andy Dick thinks he has discovered “Dilbert.” Can’t remember if the character played by Joe Rogan appears in it. I believe Phil Hartman (R.I.P.) was in every episode.

I deleted a post that was attracting some heated rhetoric. I don’t know who these commenters are and don’t know if I can trust their motives.
All I wanted to say is that responsible leaders would be trying to reduce tensions right now, but this administration seems determined to ramp them up.

When I moved to the Twin Cities from San Francisco, I really thought I was leaving the big city and going to a nice, slightly boring Midwestern metro where no big news ever happened. Shows how much I knew.

Nothing like a post on Minnesota Public Radio’s Facebook page about ICE killing a woman in Minneapolis to bring out the bearded, sunglasses-wearing White guys in Fresno, California, who are there to argue she deserved it.

It took me a minute to figure out that this was (apparently) an ad for the United States office of Temu and not a meme suggesting we are living in the Temu version of the United States.
It feels that way these days.

Yeah, the Stranger Things finale is kinda dumb, but it’s worth it for that D&D scene at the end.

I used to see wonky, left-leaning people tweet about how horrible Bari Weiss was when she was just a columnist, and I thought this was “inside baseball” talk that didn’t matter to anyone who didn’t work in news media.
Well, I was wrong. The wonky, left-leaning media people were right.

When did people start saying “crash out” for “go crazy,” “freak out,” etc.? I feel like I just noticed it in the past couple months and now I see it everywhere.

I thought I was accustomed to the randos who pop up to defend Republicans and billionaires on Facebook comments threads, but I’m surprised to find randos defending David Brooks’ right to not disclose that he had gone to a dinner with Jeff Epstein.
David Brooks has superfans?

I’m disappointed in Cheap Trick for playing the Kennedy Honors thing, even if it was just to honor their old comrades in KISS. I still hold a grudge against Beyoncé because Destiny’s Child played Bush’s inauguration in 2001.
