As a longtime PR person, I have a theory that many lawyers are just fancy PR people. Nothing proves this more than an entertaining, written-for-press class-action lawsuit. williammoss.substack.com/p/the-people...

I wrote about how last month's class-action lawsuit over the marketing of McDonald's "McRib" sandwich was a clever bit of gross-out PR rooted in American ideas of which bits of an animal are "premium" and which are trash. williammoss.substack.com/p/the-people...

I think all late season football should be played in the shittiest possible weather, by law.

Correction. That initial sentiment may have been right.

Accidentally learned two things today:

1) Searching "otter" on bsky dot app does not return photos of the famously adorable riparian mustelid.

2) The urban dictionary definition of the word "otter."

I endorse using goldies as a standard unit of mass. I also like the idea of a goldie tree.

I tell people that my tax return in China was one page online, I never had to send a check, and this is the civilization that literally invented bureaucracy.
this is also the case for income tax in China - it comes out of your paycheck before you get it, it's not even usually listed, and any salary offer you get will be in post-tax terms.

A lot of Big V accounts moaning about the bsky user base today, and how people willfully misunderstand things, argue against points they didn’t make, etc. Also some recent high profile “time-outs” and controversial account suspensions. I find it academically interesting.
