The shocking pink berries of spindle are just opening out to reveal their equally flamboyant orange seeds, their leaves turning a subtler shade of gorgeous colour.

Fieldfares! A flock of 40+ chacking and flying between ash trees in the Oswestry hills.
Last summer my husband was given some puss moth caterpillars by a guy he met while in hospital. We fed them on willow leaves and watched in fascination as they grew. In time they developed chrysalises. Today two of them emerged! #moths
Absolutely! Field forget-me-not - slip of the fingers (not to mention brain cells).
Cuckoo flower, a favourite food plant for orange tip butterflies. #wildflowerhour
Field speedwell growing between the tarmaced pavement and my neighbour's wall. #tinyflowers #wildflowerhour
I'm late for #Wildflowerhour but here is a cluster of Field Maple flowers. They are so easily overlooked but exquisitely lovely when you notice them. #treeflowers
You have to seek out town hall clock, a tiny woodland plant with 5 green flowers arranged in a unique cube-shape. Every spring I go back to an old, overgrown tramway cutting where it thrives in the damp shade.

My white flowering currant is alive with bees. At 8pm it was still buzzing with huge queen bumblebees and much smaller, black female hairy footed flower bees. Such a good shrub for wildlife. #bees #wildlifegardens
One in my garden today too!
...or is it a hairy footed flower bee?
Wood anemones, primroses, dog violets and a galaxy of celandines in this sunny woodland glade today. #wildflowerhour
Two barn owl feathers found today. Female I think. Really soft along the edges. #owls #feathers

The bee flies are back! Here's one in my garden on a pulmonaria - just about in the photo top right.
Yellow Star of Bethlehem blowing in the breeze, shining in the sun on a rocky outcrop in the Oswestry hills. #yellowflowers #wildflowerhour
This afternoon I came across a pussy willow, golden with pollen and alive with bees. That's the place for a chiffchaff I thought and lo! one sang!
