The Metals Company has launched legal proceedings against Greenpeace International for an ongoing peaceful protest at sea in the Pacific Ocean, in an attempt to silence environmental concerns about deep sea mining.

Greenpeace International activists from around the world have paddled and protested around MV COCO, a specialized offshore drilling vessel currently collecting data for deep sea mining frontrunner, The Metals Company, on its last expedition before it files the world’s first ever application to mine the seabed in the Pacific Ocean. In the Image, the Kayaks are relatively small in the lower left half of the image. The forward seated activists wears a headlamp and holds a protest banner, while on the right half of the image the MV Coco is towering over the activists. All is set in a dramatic sunset.

Left behind fishing gear or so-called “ghost gear” makes up at least 10% of all marine litter and is a huge thread of marine life.

In late October, the Crew of the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise freed a Humpback Whale Entangled in fishing gear.

Unsere Recherche zeigt, wie sich bei der Gasförderung freigesetzte Chemikalien von der geplanten Bohrstelle N05A des 🇳🇱 Konzerns ONE-Dyas ausbreiten könnten. Um die Ausbreitung zu untersuchen, wurden drei mit GPS-Sendern ausgestattete Bojen in der Nordsee ausgesetzt.
