Rockford Haiku from the weekly haiku hike I've taken with Ryan Davis for six years always starting in the heart of downtown Rockford. This is a photo of the historic Faust Landmark Hotel and my haiku.

December fog
a graceful visitor
who refuses to stay

Yes, that's what I meant to say.

Thank you, Sweet. It's interesting because over six years it fascinates me what he focuses on and what I focus on in our hikes. But on this occasion it was a no doubter he was going to shoot this.

Thanks, Love. It was a day when we stepped out and saw this immediately. I knew he would shoot it. Then I based my haiku on the Carl Sandberg poem

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

But that's exactly what it looked like.

Then, number one: mission accomplished. I feel like we're almost always in the same ballpark, making sense of what we observe in different ways on different days. Patterns in the chaos.
