I think it was ultimately a hopeful movie (in like a religious sense). As much as it shows flaws within the church, it also hammers in the idea that it was the folly of man and not god. Fun movie and one of my favorites, but not one you'd go to for a hard critique of the church

I'm christian, I have friends who are catholic, but I'm also queer and live in a country still affected by colonialism. I don't talk about it as much here as I do on Tumblr lol, but I think it's important to be critical of organized religion, especially as someone who is a part of it

My thing about conclave (movie) is that I enjoyed it a lot, enjoy the fan content made from it, and also enjoy how it communicates with the religion it is built upon. But at the same time, it's a very slippery slope into propaganda for an institution that has had a history of harm on minorities

I usually put my biblical art under the bible tag, but with Jesus + pets commissions I might not anymore since it's not directly based on a story from the bible
