I have seen people whine that the college football playoffs should have “the 12 best teams.”
1) there’s no real way to determine this
2) there is not a playoff out there that allows only the X best teams. With conferences and divisions, inevitably some deserving teams will be left out

involuntary old man moment: I was in a store talking to the cashier. Someone i work with was behind the counter too. I made an obvious joke that didn’t need a visual indicator to alert people, but as I was saying it, my right eye involuntarily winked at my co-worker to let them know it was a joke.
