My September turned out to be much better than previous months on the bookish front, and I had a goal of reading one specific book which I completed - and it even ended up being an addition to my best of shelf! The real task now is seeing if I can hit my reading challenge goal for the year in the three months that remain, but I'm still somewhat optimistic. Let's take a look!

Robert Langdon is back, and this time, he is in Prague for what should be a relaxing trip accompanying his girlfriend Katherine Solomon to cheer her on as she gives a ground breaking lecture on the science of human consciousness. But only a day after the lecture, Katherine disappears from their hotel room without a trace and Langdon is on the run as a spectre from Prague's mystical folklore seems to stalk him. Someone is determined to make sure Katherine's research is never published, and they are willing to go to any lengths to see it done.

Thomas, the son of a tradesman from Suffolk is sent to study at Oxford when his family notices how brilliant he is. He later enters the church and slowly begins to come to the notice of the important and powerful people of the realm, eventually climbing to heights he would never have dreamed possible. But there are others who dislike his presence and influence, and he is soon surrounded by enemies plotting his downfall. The Cardinal depicts the story of how a boy from such a humble background rose to the exalted rank of Cardinal and trusted advisor to Henry VIII, and his eventual fall from grace.

Kate Brannon is looking forward to attending a Victorian themed murder mystery weekend set in a real manor house with her friends after what has been a difficult few months. A long time fan of solving mysteries, Kate is quite the sleuth and is excited to try and win the contest - and the prize money is nothing to sneeze at either. But her confidence flags with the arrival of Max Ravenscroft, the fourth member of their team, and her nemesis as far as sleuthing is concerned. As the mystery gets underway however, they are forced to work together and Kate begins to think that working with him isn't all that bad and they make a rather great team. But as they find more and more hints that the game is being intentionally rigged against the players, will they be able to find the killer in time?

Hello readers! Fall is always a great season for new books and this month's look quite promising!

Criminology focused school J. Everett High traditionally hosts a staged murder mystery to test its students each year with a huge prize for the winners. Dulce and her friend Emi are determined to win this year, hoping to use the prize to fund their dream trip to the UK. The game begins and as expected, the chosen victim, Xavier Torres, is found poisoned - except he's actually dead. Xavier's ex-girlfriend (who is also Dulce's ex-best friend) is the prime suspect and Dulce is skeptical when Sierra pleads with her to find the real culprit, but after much convincing, agrees to investigate. But as more and more suspects come to light with equally strong motives, will Dulce be able to solve the mystery in time?

Hello readers, it's time for another wrap up post! Honestly, August was not all that different from July on the bookish front. That reading slump is still hanging around and I seem to need an extended break with every book I finish which is very annoying given that it's starting to get closer to the end of the year. But as always, fingers crossed for September, especially with all the new releases coming up!
