Toyota's wing mirrors impact performance so much (more grip) on the fast stages of #RallyCER that new ones are reinstalled during tyre fitting zones, forcing teams to carry spares all morning (~500 g extra), even though they can be lost again soon after

The FIA World Motor Sport Council approved today the creation of an RC6 class for Rally6 Group cars - Four-seater, two-wheel drive ICE cars, Standard 1.6T or 2.0 NA engine, power-to-weight ratio of 7.5 kg/hp. No news about WRC27 Regulations. #WRClive #WRCliveES #WRCjp
Detail of the Ford Puma #Rally1 front bumper intake coolers & intakes, ahead of Central European Rally, where an adequate protection will be crucial to prevent the accumulation of leaves that could reduce cooling capacity

Tänak will contest CER in the previous spec (Monte-Carlo'25) car (above in the image) with a new engine, while Neuville & Fourmaux will drive the last evolution (Canarias'25) (below) with new damper struts. Note the different front damper angle

Brakes will be under greater stress than ever with the WRC’s return to tarmac. Higher speeds & more grip generate stronger braking forces, producing intense heat that must be dissipated to ensure performance. Here's our review of the Rally2 brake cooling systems

Hyundai’s decision to make Tänak's car ineligible for Manufacturers’ points from Central European Rally means no limits apply in the number of unsealed components - engines, turbos, chassis, subframes, steering racks, shock absorbers & onboard spares

Downforce diminishes from very small angles, as the wing becomes less effective. But with high angles, side force (or the force exerted by air against the sliping rear) plays a role in reducing the tendency to slip, thus helping the driver to control oversteering
The aerodynamics of #Rally1 cars are designed (and wind tunnel tested) to work at maximum angles of 20º. But reality proves that the cars are placed at higher angles in some corners (up to 40º), such as in #RallyChile SS12 yesterday

Škoda has also been working this week on the development of the Fabia RS #rally2 , testing a car with a new, bigger roof scoop to improve temperature inside the vehicle, but which could affect the performance of the rear wing due to the increased wake from the enlarged intake.

Completely flat undercar in a event as fast as Rally del Paraguay ensures that air flows faster under the #Rally1 cars, thus reducing pressure under the car and increasing grip

Right, they are the most benefited, but it also gives more room for the Toyota to improve even more...
The open bonnet of the Hyundai of Ott Tanak at #RallyFinland causing drag but even worse, generating lift as air enters under the bonnet instead of pressuring it down, and front grip can be significantly affected #WRClive #WRCliveES #WRCjp
The FIA announced today that teams will have 2 additional homologation jokers for chassis development, bringing the total to 6 between 2025 and 2026. So far, Hyundai has used 3 and Toyota 1, according to the latest homologation list published

On the fast stages of #RallyFinland, as in Estonia, it will be critical not to damage the front bumper, splitter or mirrors, as they form the aero package responsible for ensuring downforce (grip) at the front of the car & balance

The front left damage of @OliverSolberg01 & @AdrienFourmaux on @RallyEstonia SS6 might only look cosmetic, but this part is critical for generating front grip, leading to transverse & longitudinal imbalance and make driving hard
