Yesterday was the first day that the service was operated solely by Class 230s, since their introduction. Unfortunately there were a number of cancellations in the evening. We have contacted TfW to ask the reason and what steps they are being taken to ensure that further cancellations can be avoided

The removal of the foot crossings will mean the long awaited Liverpool to Llandudno service can commence, which in turn will see 2 trains per hour calling at Shotton low level, which will improve Wrexham-Bidston line connectivity with the North Wales coast and Chester. #BorderlandsLine

In September 2023, when it was realised that Merseyrail’s 507 fleet of EMUs was about to be withdrawn, the 507 Preservation Group was hastily set up to obtain funds for the preservation of the first of the class. The appeal fund to meet transportation costs was met with considerable success for the unit to be housed in secure premises on the Tanat Valley Light Railway in Shropshire. There is always an interesting story behind such preservation projects and Robert, in his capacity as Chairman of the 507 PG will present the ‘behind the scenes’ story this evening. He will bring a number of items for sale, the proceeds of which will go directly into the above mentioned fund. Your support will be much appreciated. Admission £4 includes refreshments. Members and non-members are welcome.
