For more than a decade, communities and partners worked to protect marine turtles in Malaysia. That effort is now reflected in the gradual return of turtles to seagrass habitats, an encouraging sign of recovery and shared stewardship.

During the CTI-CFF SOM-20 last week, WWF CTP’s 2026 proposals were acknowledged, including support for community leadership, MPA networks, marine plastic strategies + IMTAs via blue corridors.

A hopeful year ahead for regional action in the Coral Triangle.

The 2025 Blue Corridors for Turtles Small Grants Fund is now open! 🐢

Projects can receive up to $35,000 USD + satellite tags to help close gaps in marine turtle data.

WWF CTP is heading to Bali next week for CTI-CFF’s 20th Senior Officials Meeting. The six Coral Triangle countries will meet to discuss seascapes, fisheries, MPAs/OECMs, climate adaptation, species protection, and regional governance.

A big week ahead.
