Horror and scifi books, comics, movies.
Really enjoyed this fun, modern take on a body snatcher theme with drugs and spores as the big evil and I love books that features a straight edge main character. Coming from that scene myself it's an honor that @claymcleod.bsky.social incorporated a bit of the subculture in such a fun book.

Take all the horror that may happen behind the closed doors of a house add a group of adults with serious trauma and you have the ingredients of one of the best books of 2025. @chuckwendig.bsky.social did it again.

@thomasoldeheuvelt is de beste horrorschrijver van Nederland/Europa en bewijst dat zeker met zijn nieuwste boek #dontreadthelastpage

@sgj.bsky.social writing a haunted house novel is like Escher meets Poe. This house isn't haunted, it's harboring a menacing threat. If you enjoy terrifying time loops and hate nanny cams this is one for you.

Another good @tkingfisher.com book about a woman becoming herself, her dog, friendship in unexpected places and an angry spirit. Oh and murderous roadrunners. First I'm reading about those.

Out of all his recent books (Road, Hallows, House) @cgolden.bsky.social really outdid himself with this one. It's action packed from start to finish, features a coven of badass witches and takes place on a stranded ship that has a forest growing. I loved it.

If you agree that I know what you did last summer could have been way more tense and dark and if you like crime noir and nail biting suspense. If you enjoy all that's lurking in the dark and aren't afraid of small town secrets then @ronaldmalfi.bsky.social wrote the book for you.

I have to admit I don't like driving and could care less about cars and trucks but @sgj.bsky.social surprised me with the action packed thrill ride that is Killer On The Road. He managed to create another awesome final girl and one scary protagonist.

I really liked this one by @shaunhamill.bsky.social There are no xenomorphs till far into the book but it does show another side within the Alien universe and has ties to the Prometheus and Convenant movies while also name dropping Ridley and yet being a story of its own.

This scifi series by @scalzi.com makes one question what it means to be human, the vicious circle of an arms race and how those in power always find others to exploit. Heavy topics in a very readable tone.

This book isn't about an ordinary haunted house, it's about a house that chews and grinds the meat of everyone who dares to enter especially children.
I loved this tale of cosmic horror @christinahenry.bsky.social wrote a terrifying great novel.

Did we need a sequel to Mary Shelleys Frankenstein? Not really, but JS Barnes did write a near perfect gothic story continuing the tale of Victor and his creation with the right amount if dread and suspense @titanbooks.bsky.social

Now this is one energetic thrill ride through post Vietnam war heartland USA and back with big fangs sucking the blood and guts out of passerby while still having the heart and soul of a modern horror classic. I applaud @keithrosson.bsky.social for this old school tale.

Very rarely did I read a book that is this convincing in describing how it feels to surpress who you really are. @scumbelievable.bsky.social nailed that plus added haunting images and pitch black history creating a very dark and gripping story with a satisfying, gruesome catharsis in the end.

Get your biscuits and tea, sit down in your favorite chair and be prepared to meet final girl Rose and the other elderly people in @pfracassi.bsky.social awesome book about a slasher in a retirement home. Fracassi breathes life (and death) in his characters and entertains and thrills the reader.

I finally got to see Clown In a Cornfield and I really enjoyed it. I hope many people will continue the story @adamcesare.bsky.social created by reading the trilogy as there's so much more to Quinn and Frendo.

With her Sworn Soldier books @tkingfisher.com is creating her own universe of classic storytelling by expanding and revitalising older tales. Book 3 What Stalks The Deep is a perfect blend of mystery, horror and humor and I hope we'll get more adventures with Alex Easton @titanbooks.bsky.social

By far one of the goriest, bleak, most daring and compelling horror stories I've read this year. There's so much emotion pouring through these pages written by @ajwhiteauthor.bsky.social To me horror is meant to push bounderies and mirror our current society and this book does just that and more.

Looking for a slasher that's fast paced, fun and takes many stabs towards fancy yoga retreats, spirtual leaders and gongs? Then @brianmcwriter.bsky.social has written the book for you.

Surrealist queer kink horror fiction that has an eerie unsetting ending. This book by @haileypiperfights.bsky.social for sure isn't for everyone but The King In Yellow will lure in those who understand.

How to make the mundane horrific? @claymcleod.bsky.social found a way to bring scariness to objects like a fireplace and a hammer while also showing we're all only one blink away of going bat shit crazy. Great short story collection. Published by @titanbooks.bsky.social
