I’m thrilled to welcome British writer and editor Jo Abbott. Jo and I first connected through social media, where her love for language, Jane Austen, and Austen re-imaginings stood out. www.thequillink.com/post/intervi...

A lovely getaway to Whidbey Island, visiting my friend’s family farm (circa 1910). Picked pears/gonna make pear butter! Went to a ChiliCookout w/local band. So much research for the romance I’m writing! Woke to this spectacular sunrise on Dugualla Bay. What a magical place. The way life should be.
Wildflowers blue cornflowers maybe in a field with old gray barn in background Pink and orange clouds on blue sky above gold field of grass to an old blue farmhouse Sunrise across Dugualla Bay toward Cascade Mountains Peach colored sky, Mt Baker in the distance. Dugualla Bay across to mouth of Skagit River.

Mist and a telltale chill remind me barefoot mornings in the garden are dwindling. And because of this, autumn is still my 4th favorite season.

MY FAVORITE JANE AUSTEN SCENE
Anngela Schroeder, a favorite in the world of Austenesque fiction, cleverly shares a scene from “Pride & Prejudice” that continues to resonate with her—and how she breaks it down for her high school students.

PNWA 2025 is a wrap! 🎉 I go for craft + industry insight—but connecting with fellow writers is the real magic.
Pitched to agents (thrilling/terrifying), and THE HOT QUIXOTE won 3rd in the romance category! 🏆

What are you reading? I just downloaded Dr. Devoney Looser’s WILD FOR AUSTEN. Author Stephanie Barron says, “Thoroughly grounded in deep research and even deeper understanding of its subject, ‘Wild for Austen’ is nothing short of brilliant." I can’t wait to dive in! @devoney.bsky.social

“I am gutted by the violence witnessed yesterday, and much more so that it is nothing new. From Charlie Kirk to Gaza to a girl on a train, it is the age old human curse that we have not yet learned that we cannot kill our way to a better world.”—Brandon Dragan, author

Moderated a pitch practice breakout for Pacific Northwest Writers Association last night—offered tips from my own trial/error, then gave my pitch. Peer writers said I nailed it…so, why am I still nervous? 😅 Anyone else pitching at the PNWA conference in Seattle next month? Let’s connect!
