That got the masked figure’s attention. Usually, yellow mages would cast a spell to dismember limbs. This one, however, did not.

Whispers were heard as the figure spoke. There were intelligible words within his static-like, garbled speech.

As Magus's starting gear when you recruit him, he has a yellow mage outfit, a ritual staff, and an eclipse talisman. He will also give you the empty scroll if you didn't steal it from him after some time, and not stealing from Magus will build trust points needed for his story.

Magus is 5'5ft tall and has a very thin build that would lead one to believe he is malnourished.

Magus does not use this in his overworld battle due to having low Mind. The only way to unlock the Shadowed Soul skills is by killing Magus and having Nash'rah in the party who will unlock it the next time you visit a Hexen.

Magus has his own unique skills - "Danse des ombres", which focuses on dealing critical damage to a random pair of limbs. Higher chance for headshots. Then there is "Danse des courageux" which increases the agility of his fellow team members.

Magus's personal quest revolves around unleashing the power in his Shadowed Soul. This involves talking to Nash'rah and going to Ma'habre.

Attacking Magus during any time of the battle will cause Magus to start attacking in turn. Stealing from Magus will result in an Eclipse Talisman and Empty Scroll. He'll remark that he would've given them to you if you asked nicely.

Offering Magus a mind restoring item will end the battle and cause a dialogue to start where he thanks you for restoring his Mind. Magus will then look over your party and ask to join if there's space available.

This is where Magus will be recruited if you're in the Talk menu, asking him what he's doing in the dungeon will result in him saying he was on a mission but his group had perished. He will then remark how he's not feeling so well ever since then.

Upon interacting with him, a battle will start but Magus will ask your intentions. If answered "to destroy you!", Magus will continue the battle as normal. If answered "to talk!" Magus will skip his turn to allow the skill Talk to be used.

Magus can be seen in the Mines dancing beside a pile of Cave Dweller corpses - unlike other Yellow Mages, if you approach, Magus won't immediately attempt to cast Hurting. He will mind his business unless spoken to.

Magus holds a Shadowed Soul; considering he was the only mage of his group not to be massacred that only seemed to appear after he was threatened, there are unique skills that only Magus can use.

This Yellow Mage is actually recruitable if you choose the right dialogues in battle, as Magus - while engrossed in the ways of the Yellow Mage - has other business in the dungeons of Fear and Hunger, but lost his group and lost his courage to go any further without them.
