Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, claims that vaccines can cause severe disease have been widespread on social media, with skeptics raising the alarm about what they call "turbo cancer."

What exactly does Danielle Smith mean when she invokes “Alberta’s distinct legal traditions”?

Politically-motivated SLAPP lawsuits and wasting everyone's time litigating Craig Chandler's Facebook beefs?

It's only extortion if you're threatening the other party.

She's not threatening Carney.

She's threatening her own people.

It's cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Extortion is what this is. Why not come right out and say it?

Never tell a public school teacher that they have no experience. We don’t learn about poverty, hunger, homelessness, crime, and social justice from a book.

We face these issues head on every day in our classrooms.

This is a monumentally irresponsible move. Whoever advised the premier should resign or be fired.

Smith shouldn't just withdraw the threat. She should apologize for threatening to cut off Albertans' access to their own justice system.

I'm old enough to remember when conservatives stood up for legal rights, victims, and a law-and-order agenda.

Defunding the judiciary undercuts all of those.

It makes it more likely that perpetrators will go free and restricts Albertans' access to justice.

The Case For A 100-Justice Supreme Court
With the current mess that the US is in, there has been plenty of talk of "what comes after" and how to think about the big structural changes needed to prevent another authoritarian from taking over and abusing all the levers of power for corruption and self-enrichment. There are many different issues to address, but we should be thinking creatively about how to redesign our institutions to be more resilient to the abuses we’re witnessing.
